1. What do you hope to accomplish as a teacher?

1. As a teacher I want to be able to make a positive impact on my students to where

it helps them out in life. That can be either in present day or in the future. I also

want to be able to create an environment that everyone feels comfortable in and

looks forward to coming to. It will not be everyone’s favorite class but I want to

provide an area where people can escape and show the positives about being

active.

2.   How will (do) you go about finding out about students' attitudes and feelings about your

class?

1. I think that it is beneficial to get everyone’s perspective on your class before we really

kick off the year. By giving them a response slip about asking what is their favorite part

about Phys Ed, what don’t they like and what are their favorite and least favorite units,

etc and also throughout the year just being observant on certain tendencies some students

have.

3.   An experienced teacher offers you the following advice: "When you are teaching, be sure to
command the respect of your students immediately and all will go well." How do you feel about

this?

1. I feel like there is truth to that to some extent. I respected all my favorite teacher and

wanted to do well because I respected them. It wasn’t because they commanded my

respect though, it happened organically on just how they treated everyone and their class.

4.   How do you go about deciding what it is that should be taught in your class?

1. As for going into a Physical Education major, I get a sweet and important role on

impacting how the youth seek activity and how that can impact the rest of their lives. So

when deciding on what I want to be taught, I want them to be able to take whatever

activity we are doing and be able to translate that in their lives outside of class.

5.  A parent comes to you and complains that what you are teaching his child is irrelevant to the

child's needs. How would you respond?

1. I would first try to get a better understanding on where they are coming from. What needs

aren’t being met and reflect on what I could possibly do better. Then I would explain the
reasonings behind what we are doing so that the parent could potentially see a new

viewpoint and we can work from there.

6.   What do you think will (does) provide you with the greatest pleasure in teaching?

1. I think that seeing the growth and progression of the students is where I will get the

greatest pleasure in teaching. If I can make a positive impact on their lives that will

benefit them in the future I will be happy.

7.    When you have some free time, what do you enjoy doing the most?

1. The thing I enjoy doing the most in my free time is just being able to be active somehow.

For me it is a great way to escape for  a while where I can get my heart-rate and

adrenaline going, listen to some great music and feel better about myself after doing so.

8.  How do you go about finding what students are good at?
1. There is a couple ways to do this. At the beginning I can have them record their own

strengths and weaknesses, but also giving them ample opportunity to try different skills

and activities and visually observe how they perform.

9.   Would you rather try a lot of way-out teaching strategies or would you rather try to perfect

the approaches that work best for you? Explain your position.

1. I think that my strategies will change based on how the students are absorbing the

content. If they are struggling then I need to change my approach on how we handle a

subject and create a way for them to understand it better.

10.   Do you like to teach with an overall plan in mind for the year, or would you rather just teach

some interesting things and let the process determine the results? Explain your position

1. I believe that I would like an overall plan in mind but also knowing that I will have to be

adaptable to any adversities that may occur. There may be lessons where they understand

it right away or that it takes them a little more time to wrap their head around it.
11.   A student is doing poorly in your class. You talk to her, and she tells you that she considers

you to be the poorest teacher she has ever met. What would you do?

1. I would ask her why she thinks so and ask her what I could do to be better or better

explain the material. This doesn’t mean I cater the class to her but there is a possibility if

I am doing something poorly that I can’t see, other students may be seeing the same

things. It is important to self-evaluate, the best you can be is what is best for the students.

12.  If there were absolutely no restrictions placed upon you, what would you want to do in life?

1. If there was no restrictions I would simply do what I enjoy doing now. I would spend

time with my family, be active and then find time to relax and enjoy movies.
