Ananya – Good Morning/Afternoon everyone, Today

we all our going to present a role play on processing of
coal.
*Navya throwing coals*
Ananya- Hey! Navya, stop what are you doing?
Navya- What I am just throwing pebbles in the river!
Ananya- It is not a pebble its coal
Navya- What is coal, I have never heard of it before
Dhairya- Hey friends I am coal. I am a fossil fuel. I am
a hard stone like substance. I am black in colour due to
the high pressure and temperature it was buried under. I
am processed in three types- solid, liquid and gas.
Vernit- Hello everyone I am coke the solid form of coal.
I am used to make- iron and other metals, fuel for
stoves, etc. I am preferred over coal because I produce
less smoke as compared to coal.
Divyansh- Hi all, I am coal tar the liquid form of coal. I
am beneficial to you in making - dyes, medicinal drugs,
perfumes, shampoos,etc.
Nischaya- Hold on… did you guys forget me? I am coal
gas referred to as the gaseous form of coal. I help you
as a fuel to many things such as- generating electicity,
automobiles, etc.
Navya- Wow that’s so interesting… can u tell me more
about this
Dishita- First of all lets know about the story of coal. It
was formed around 300 million years ago when the
earth was covered with swampy forests. When plants in
these forests died, they fell into the swamps. Thus, there
was a thick layer of dead vegetation in the swamp
formed.
As years passed, more and more plants died and many
such layers were formed, one above each other. The
topmost layers compressed the layers below. Heat and
pressure caused some physical and chemical changes
and eventually, some carbon-rich deposits were formed.
Samaira- Where was the coal obtained from?
It was obtained from the underground seams, which are
the layers of ores and are thick enough to be mined with
profitable results.
There are two ways in which mining can be done-
underground and open-pit. Vertical shafts are dug to
access the deposits through underground mining,
whereas in surface or open-pit mining, soil and rocks
that lie on top of the mineral deposits are removed.

Amrita-
1.The amount of energy produced by the sun in a two
weeks period equals the combined stored energy of all
coal
2. The ash that is a by-product of coal combustion is
used as fillers for things such as tennis rackets, golf
balls.
3. The energy we get from coal today comes from the
energy that plants absorbed from sun , millions of years
ago
Arya - ….. Pls share your lines
Navya- Oh wow….. Amazing, it was so informative.
Thank you friends for the data.

Ananya – Hope you all understood about coal through

our presentation. Thank you!
