Subject: Instruction Usability Test Results

Dear Megan Baltimore,

I have attached the results from the observational usability test for How to Land An Ollie. Girl
Skateboard’s initiative for this instructional packet, to reach a broader audience of beginner and
intermediate skateboarders, was successful. The usability test includes observations from a single
participant’s interaction with the instructions. The participant was able to successfully perform
an Ollie with the assistance of the instructions.

The participant’s interaction with the instructions was mostly positive, although she did have
some recommendations for improvement of formatting and content. Step 1 could be improved to
better communicate the necessary foot positioning. The diction of this step should be rewritten
as, “With the board perpendicular to your body, place your dominant foot in the middle of the
board. Place your non dominant foot on the tail of the board, your pinky toe will be towards the
edge of the board.” It is important to also include a reminder that everyone’s foot placement may
slightly vary.

Overall, the instructions were successful and achieved the goal of teaching an intermediate skater
how to land an Ollie. With the improvements listed, the instructions should be even more
efficient. Thank you for taking the time to review the results.
