What would you say was the highlight of your product marketing career?

The highlight of my career in product marketing was the success recorded in introducing Huawei
RuralStar-Pro to the Nigerian market in 2020.

RuralStar-Pro is Huawei solution to provide voice and mobile broadband services to remote villages
with a population less than 500. Using more simplified network equipment, it provides decreased
infrastructure costs, thereby significantly reducing the return on investment (ROI) period for
operators, and their partners who are mandated (solely) to extend coverage to remote, hard-to-
reach communities.

The target ROI period (within 3–5 years) couldn’t be achieved in such highly sparse population with
previously launched RuralStar and RuralStar-Lite, designed to serve remote areas with a population
of over 1,000 and between 500 to 1,000 respectively.

How do you measure the success of your product marketing campaigns? *

Conversion rates: Increased success in identifying and targeting the right market segments out of the
demand generated.

Win rates: Increased success in effectively nurture through an entire deal cycle.

Deal cycles: Timely supporting Sales team with the right preparatory material to influence shorten
deal cycles.

Win/Loss ratio: Increase in the rate of success in the opportunities given.

Onboarding data: Success in helping maximise usage of all the features available to the customer.

Feature adoption: Increased success in new offerings, and cross-sell options.

Churn rates: Increased success in convincing the customer about innovating poise and meeting their
needs better than the competitions.

What's the most technical product you had to market? *

Marketing Huawei initiative for operators to profit from networks that serve remote areas within a
target relatively short period. This is time, social benefits including enabling remote education,
inclusive e-commerce, telemedicine, and other digital social services will not suffice. High precision
in (most importantly) identifying ideal location and deploying the most suitable of the products (i.e.
RuralStar, RuralStar-Lite, and RuralStar-Pro ) for each location is critical.
deploy several RuralStar BTS on MTN Nigeria network with over 80% meeting ROI within target
period. extends beyond sparsely populated towns and villages. The simplicity of the system means
that a node can be built in less than seven days, cutting setup costs and time by up to 70%.

And its footprint is minimal - RuralStar consumes no more energy than five lightbulbs.

This solution integrates baseband, radio frequency (RF), and wireless backhaul functions into one
base station, significantly reducing site deployment costs.

RuralStar Pro moves a further step towards improving the lives of people in remote areas by enabling
remote education, inclusive finance, telemedicine, and other digital social services.

RuralStar makes it possible for operators to profit from rural networks that serve remote areas with a
population of over 1,000. This greatly encourages operators to tap into the rural network market.

The combination of these advantages significantly reduces site deployment costs. In villages with a
population of 500 to 1,000 people, RuralStar Lite keeps operators’ ROI period within 3–5
years.RuralStar Lite
