THE CHILDREN’S DISCOVERY MUESUM IS BRINGING A DAY OF PLAY TO

UPTOWN

Normal, Ill - The Children’s Discovery Museum is holding a Day of Play for the children and
families of Bloomington-Normal. It will be taking place on September 25 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
in Uptown Normal.

The Children’s Discovery Museum will have activities and games available for the children.
Admission to the Day of Play will be free and tickets to the museum will be discounted. The
activities will be interactive and engaging for all ages that attend.

The Day of Play: Kids Make and Sell will give the option to guests to sell their handmade items.
The sellers must be from ages five to eighteen. For $10, the seller will be able to purchase one-
half of an eight-foot table, chair and tent. No food items will be accepted at the event.

The event will offer stage performances, a bike rodeo, and touch-a-truck area. The Museum is
partnering with Heartland Community College Challenger Learning Center and NASA. There
will be a live Zoom with NASA to teach the children about the launch of the James Webb
Telescope. There will be interactive games, space suits, and crafts for the children to learn about
space. They will get the chance to step away from the conventional way of learning and
experience a different approach to education.

The event will be a great way for the children and families to connect with the community and
spend time outside. The Museum encourages families to enjoy spending time outside in a world
that has been structured around technology. More than sixty vendors will be attending the Day of
Play to help promote a healthy lifestyle to kids.

The Day of Play encourages families to come together and enjoy all the Children’s Discovery
Museum has to offer. We are so excited to get to promote the creativity of the children and have
them interact with the different opportunities we have in Uptown.”, said Paul Scharnett, Vice
Chair.

About The Children’s Discovery Museum: The Children’s Discovery Museum promotes creating
a healthy learning environment. The Museum gives children the opportunity to play through
hand-on activities and classes that create curiosity.
