E. The Hypotheses
Fraenkel, et. al. (2012, p. 83) as cited in Holandyah (2014, p. 187)

state that (Holandyah, 2014: 9), hypothesis is simply put, a prediction of the

possible outcomes of a study.

The hypothesis of this research consists of null hypothesis (Ho) and

alternative hypothesis (Ha) as stated below:

1. (Ho) : There is no a significant improvement on students’ speaking skill

by using Auditory-Intellectually-Repetition (AIR) strategy at the

eighth grade students of MTS Al-Hikmah Palembang.

(Ha) : There is significant improvement on student’s speaking skill by

using Auditory-Intellectually-Repetition (AIR) strategy at the

eighth grade students of MTS Al-Hikmah Palembang.

2. (Ho) : There is no significant difference on student’s speaking skill

using Auditory-Intellectually-Repetition (AIR) strategy, teacher’s

method, and student’s posttest score in speaking.

(Ha) : There is significant difference on students using Auditory-

Intellectually-Repetition (AIR) strategy, teacher’s method, and

student’s posttest score in speaking.

F. The Criteria of Testing the Hypotheses

To test a hypothesis means to reject one hypothesis and to accept another. The

criteria for testing the hypothesis are:

1. If the p-output (Sig.2-tailed) is lower than 0, 05, so the null hypothesis

(Ho) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted.

2. If the p-output (Sig.2-tailed) is higher than 0, 05, so the null hypothesis

(Ho) is accepted and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is rejected.
