PRE-IMMERSION REFLECTION

When we say work immersion what is the first thing that comes to mind? According to what
we’ve read in [Unit 1: Understanding Work Immersion], The word “immersion” as it applies to
the K to 12 curriculum is defined in the Department of Education (DepEd) Order No. 40, series
of 2015: “Work Immersion refers to the part of the Senior High School (SHS) Curriculum
consisting of 80 hours of hands-on experience or work simulation which the Grades 11 and 12
students will undergo to expose them to the actual workplace setting and to enrich the
competencies provided by the school under the supervision of the School Head and the
designated personnel of the Partner.”

This may be the first and last time I would encounter this subject, I have never heard of it
before but now I’ve realized how beneficial it is for us Graduating students to take it. In this
course we’ll be able to learn and experience new things and we’ll be exposed with work-related
environment to our field of specialization that will help us enhance our competency level. We
may also see a changes and development in our work ethics such as; good work habits,
attitudes/ behaviors, appreciation, and respect for work, applying all the theories and concept
that we’ve learned in school, acquire new skills and help to develop their communication skills
and interpersonal skills through the help and guidance of industry experts and workers. These
will help every student to be prepare to meet the needs and standards of employment.

I am looking forward to be working, learning, making new experiences and to take on the
challenges that will be thrown at me, my fellow classmates/immersion workmates and to clear
the hurdles obstructing our growth. Hopefully by the end of it all, we’ll be able to see changes
and signs of maturity within ourselves. May we be able to learn from our mistakes and nurture
what knowledge and wisdom we have taken from our Seniors and Instructors at work.
