JHEMYKA MANAS BEEd III- Block 2

Exercise 1

1. Think about the most memorable learning experience how was it (or how not) a
rich experience as define by Dale.

Dale felt that a rich experience would be “emotionally rewarding” and “motivate
[learners] for learning throughout their lives. For me, the most memorable experience
that I can say that it was some rich is experience is that when I did the Final
Demonstration in Math Subject. Because after that demonstration it was emotionally
rewarding. In that experience I learned a lot. I realize that it is true that if you put all your
efforts, time, and passion nothing is impossible. Before the demonstration I have no
idea on how to make it successful. That was the first time I do the demo. But by the help
of our Math Subject I come up with a plan and idea and start to make a preparation. I
put all my effort and my time to be sure that I can do it in a better way. After the demo I
got the positive feedback and comments even though there are some flaws and not
perfectly discuss the topic. Overall that was a great experience that help me to be better
and motivate me to the all I can in order to be successful. That experience made me
who I am today and why I am pursuing my dreams.

2. Describe an experience you have had that was emotionally rewarding and
motivated you to continue learning throughout your life.

We all have the experiences that make who we are today and why we are in this
path. As a student it is important for us the pass all the subjects we have and to have a
high grade. As a learner and student the experience that motivate me to continue
throughout my life is when I passed the battery exam. Battery exam is a requirement in
order for you to proceed to the next level or should I say to proceed second year college
in your chosen course. I was not expecting to be in the list of passers. Because I’m a
type of person who doesn’t have confidence and believe in myself. I am taking a BEEd
course and that is my dream to become an educator. And it was an honor that I made
the first level that will bring closer to my dream. When I knew that I passed I can say
that, that was emotionally rewarding. That was a rich experience for me because in that
incident I am now 3rd year college student and continue learning throughout my life.

3. Why does Dale suggest teachers balance their time providing concrete and
abstract teaching opportunities?

Teacher should balance their time providing concrete and abstract teaching.
Because as Dale Dale explained that the broad base of the cone illustrated the
importance of direct experience for effective communication and learning. Especially for
young children, real and concrete experiences are necessary to provide the foundation
of their permanent learning.

In addition to this confusion, the implications of Dale’s Cone have been

misunderstood or misapplied. Dale’s Cone has been used to maintain that more
realistic and direct experience is always better. However, Dale demurred, writing that,
“Too much reliance on concrete experience may actually obstruct the process of
meaningful generalization”. Also, Dale noted that providing realistic learning
experiences may not be efficient in terms of cost, time, and efforts. Instead, Dale
suggested that teachers should balance combinations of concrete and abstract learning
experiences. To be an effective teacher it is better to have the concrete and abstract
learning experiences in order for the students to learn not only by purposeful experience
that is seen, handled, tasted, touched, felt, and smelled” but also learning through
abstraction.

Exercise 2

1. Does being an expert in the field equate in a good teacher? (PCK). PCK has
come to be recognized as a crucial element of what teachers need to be effective
in the classroom.

Being an expert in the field in an equate in a good teacher. Because aw we all

know teaching is said to be a noble profession. It encompasses imparting of knowledge,
skills and attitudes. The mastery of subject matter is an essential skill that a teacher
requires to be endowed with, in the teaching and learning process as it has a direct
impact on teaching and learning processing schools. Teachers are required to know
what they are teaching because understanding of subject matter by a teacher implies
that the teachers is able to grasp the main points and teach them to the learners, and to
correct any misconceptions of knowledge, and all this revolves around the teachers
understanding of the subject matter. The overall effectiveness of the system of
education in any country is determined by the quality of its teachers and the extent of
teacher education and training. The teacher, as an educator requires necessary abilities
and skills in order to attain confidence and self-drive for educational development, and
these are acquired in teacher education.

2. Is using technology tools in teaching makes you an effective teacher in this

modern time?

Nowadays, technology has been part of teaching and learning process. With
countless online resources, technology can help improve teaching. Teachers can use
different apps or trusted online resources to enhance the traditional ways of teaching
and to keep students more engaged. Virtual lesson plans, grading software and online
assessments can help teachers save a lot time. This valuable time can be used for
working with students who are struggling. What is more, having virtual learning
environments in schools enhances collaboration and knowledge sharing between
teachers. But the question does teachers really need technological tools to be able to
become an effective teacher nowadays? For me the answer is no because in my
opinion effective teachers demonstrate a deep understanding of the curriculum. They
plan, teach, and assess to promote mastery for all students. Being an effective teacher
means allowing an environment that enables students to learn in the classroom to their
best abilities Effective teachers provide a respectful, positive, safe, and student-
centered environment. They pull with their colleagues to analyze data and plan for
effective and equitable instruction effective teacher makes good use of instructional time
and inspires students to do well and to know more. Each and every student in the class
has to feel comfortable and have the sense of belonging. The classroom has to be
conducive to learning and has the proper lighting so that learning easily takes place.
Teacher should be flexible to take control of any situation. Teachers are values-oriented
mentor. Technology is merely an augmentation to a teacher. It can help the process of
learning, and help teachers to the task easily but it doesn’t mean that through using
technology you become an effective teacher. It is still depending on your performance in
classroom.

Exercise 3.

1. Enumerate the 5’ps on how you utilize the technology, media, and
materials.

1. Preview the Technology, Media, and Material

Planning is important because It gives teachers the opportunity to think deliberately

about their choice of lesson objectives, the types of activities that will meet these
objectives, the sequence of those activities and the materials needed.

2. Prepare the Technology, Media, and Materials

Preparing is very important especially in the field of teaching. Teachers need to plan,
create idea, and organize the lesson before the teaching- learning process. In preparing
a lesson materials are needed. In this modern times technology such as laptop and
projector are used for the presentation of the lesson. It is also important that before you
start the lesson make sure that the three will be no interruption caused by the materials
used. So that the whole lesson will be successful.
3. Prepare the Environment

Another important responsibility of the teacher is to develop a learning environment

where students feel motivated to learn within the boundaries and expectations of a safe
classroom. Another thing is when it comes to the learning environment. It is important
that has a classroom organization and good physical environment. The classroom
should properly have arranged, like the teacher’s desk system that can be composed
and extended in various ways, provides an optimal teaching environment that protects
teacher’s privacy and helps convenient lecture preparation. Also the seating
arrangement is important to have the positive environment.

4. Prepare the Learners

Getting students to come to class prepared can be a challenge but is important for
making class time productive. Start with syllabus, inform the students what are the
topics that will be discuss and the objectives of every topic. Assess preparation early,
tell some expectations when it comes to assessment, activities, assignments, and
outputs. And explain what would be the essence and importance of the lessons.

5. Provide the Learning Experience

Through the help of learning materials lesson will be effectively delivered. Activities
should be actively prepared and make sure that the student are enjoying while learning.

Assessment are properly distributed.

Assignments are already prepared and have the relationship to the topic or to the new
topic for introductory.

2. Give the Acronym for ASSURE.

 Analyze Learners

 S- State Objectives

 S- Select Instructional Methods, Media, and Materials

 U- Utilize Media and Materials

 R- Require Learner Participation

 E- Evaluate and Revise

Discuss the different characteristics of each planet in the solar system. The concept of
planetary orbit and the relationship between the earth, the sun, and the moon.

Student will create a brief summary about the similarities and differences of each planet.

EVALUATE AND REVISE

Teacher would collect the worksheets and journal sheets to evaluate and record what
each student learns about the characteristics of the planets in the solar system.
