Tasks
Criterion B: Developing Ideas
1. Develop design specifications, which clearly states the success criteria for the design of a
solution
The Design Specification is the most crucial element of the Design Cycle.
A good Design Specification should include information that you learned about the
task/problem from your research.
It is a list of requirements that your design ideas must meet plus a list of constraints that you
have. It is the check list that you need to use when you start to make your design ideas.
Your Design Specification should give details of the products form, function, user and costs.
Specification Justification

2. Develop a range of feasible design ideas, which can be correctly interpreted by others.
Annotate each design idea to explain their design features i.e. materials, functions, etc..

a. Present the chosen design and justify its selection
Choosing your final design: Ask two classmates, friends or family members to help you identify the best
idea.
Rate how well the design fulfills each question/areas/specification point. Use a scale from 1 (lowest) to 5
(highest). Make sure to combine the total score of each design to see which one comes out on top!

4. Develop accurate and detailed planning drawings/diagrams and outline the requirements for the
creation of the chosen solution.
a. Create a diagram – e.g. mind map, process diagram, flowchart, etc. to show the steps you plan
to undertake in order to come up with an app. Make it as clear as possible assuming that you
might pass your plan to another designer for them to follow.
b. List the specific things you will need for the development of the app
