Hello, I am Mohmmed Abdelmageid. Today my topic of presentation is Solar panels in

developing countries. In this research I have proposed that the solar panels can be used to

overcome the energy crises in developing countries. It is basically a comparative analysis type of

research.

 Slide 2

let’s have a look on the table of content which includes introduction, background, methodology,

discussion, selection criteria, evaluation, conclusion, recommendation, limitation and

references.

 Slide 3

So, starting with the problem we are facing today, As the energy insecurity is one of the key

issues faced by the developing nations in the third world. Also, there is great dependance of

world on fossil fuels which are continuously depleting with time as you can see in this fig 1. The

countries are facing imbalance in electrical supply and demand which mounts the pressure on

the world specially the developing countries to find some other sources of energy rather than

fossil fuels.

 Slide 4
Moving on to the thesis statement of the research, this research will recommend a solution for

reducing energy crisis in developing countries by evaluating alternative energy sources of wind

power, hydro power or solar power using the criteria of cost and efficiency and Impact.

 Slide 5

Let’s have a look on the background of this issue. As the Developing nations are facing a twofold

energy challenge in the twenty-first century, so there is a great need to shift towards renewable

and alternative sources of energy in order to reduce our reliance on fossil fuel. Here u can see in

figure, how the trend of electricity generation in developing countries is varying. The trend is

shifting from nonrenewable to renewable resources.

 Slide 6

Now heading on to the methodology used for conducting this research. Basically, the secondary

sources will be used that includes peer-reviewed journals, articles, electronic website and books

published on the topic of solar panel or solar energy use in developing countries. These studies

are basically selected from credible websites like Google Scholar and JSTR.

 Slide 7

Now we will proceed towards the solutions of this problem which includes the use of wind

energy as an alternative energy source. It is free renewable resource that is clean and non-

polluting. And it needs no fuel, but it has a drawback that it is less practical than solar power as

it is difficult to implement.

 Slide 8
Another solution can be the use of hydro power as it is the most widely used renewable power

source. In this, Water is used as the energy source and its Cost-effective source of renewable

electricity. But it too requires massive investment.

 Slide 9

So, the best solution is the use of solar power as it is an unlimited form of energy and one of the

most efficient energy sources. Also, it needs less maintenance and is much cheaper in the long

run. In the figure 4, comparison between solar vs wind and solar vs hydro power has been

shown that also suggests solar power as the best renewable energy source.

 Slide 10

Next, we have the selection criteria used for this research which include the factors like cost,

efficiency and impact.

 Slide 11

And here you can see on the comparison of already mentioned criteria in the tabular form. The

comparison among wind, hydro and solar energy that’s too suggesting solar energy as the finest

renewable energy source due to having highest decline in LCOE (Levelized Cost of Energy) in

future, being efficient and having lesser carbon footprints.

 Slide 12

So, evaluating the solutions Solar panel-based solar power is chosen as the best alternative

renewable energy source that could replace the fossil fuel and provides cost effective and

efficient energy sources.

 Slide 13

Concluding the whole discussion, we discussed about Current Energy crisis in developing

countries as the raising problem and we did a Comparison of solutions that included wind,

hydro and solar energy to resolve this issue and eventually we got a Recommendation of solar

panels as the best solution for this problem.

 Slide 14

Here we have the recommendations that Solar panels can be used for producing energy in

developing countries as it has Few limitation to locations, Completely silent during operation,

Can be mounted anywhere, Less suspectable to lightening and wind damages and has Less

Operational Cost.

 Slide 15

But Having a look on the other side, despite of having all these advantages solar energy has

some limitations as well which includes more installation cost on it, being less efficient than

hydro and wind energy and also its not suitable for every location.

Here are some references used in this research.
