Direction: Answer what is being asked.

1. Write a slogan or make a poster on conserving energy. Put your slogan/poster on a 1/4 illustration
board. Submit your output at the SLCB faculty office.

Direction:. Answer the ff. questions below

1. Consider the usual energy needs in your daily life. Describe how each may be provided by another
source of energy other than electrical energy.

 Energy saving has been an elusive quest for many of us living in urban developed cities. We
need energy for everything in our household and it is one of the earmarks of modern living and
convenience. We use energy for everything in the home, and in the school, and basically to
perform our daily tasks. However, there is another option for us to conserve energy. Instead of
abusing the electrical energy, why don't we try to use alternative energy as our source. There
are different alternative sources of energy that are used in the world to generate power. This can
be broken down into renewable and non-renewable energy sources. When we say renewable
energy sources is any natural resource that can replace it quickly and dependably. These energy
sources are plentiful, sustainable, naturally replenished and good to the environment.
Sources of renewable energy are;
 Solar energy from the sun
 Wind energy
 Geothermal energy from the heat inside the earth.
 Hydropower from flowing water
 Ocean energy in the form of wave, tidal, current energy and ocean thermal energy.
 Biomass from plants

Another pertinent is that is non-renewable energy sources, it is a source with a limited supply that we
can mine or extract from the earth and it will eventually run out.

Sources of non-renewable energy are;

 Petroleum
 Hydro carbon gas liquids
 Natural gas
 Coal
 Nuclear energy

2. Compare operating a radio using a battery and operating it using electricity in terms of cost, benefits,
economic impact, social impact, and environmental impact.

 The main difference of operating a radio using a battery and operating it using electricity is that
using electricity can be put to use again after having fully discharged ones while using a battery
cannot be charged again once they discharge fully. But we can still operate a radio even though
there is no electricity compared to rechargeable radio. The price of radio using electricity is
higher compared to that of non-rechargeable ones which is using battery to operate. However,
over the long term using rechargeable radio is more cost effective. Not as many batteries need
to be manufactured if people use rechargeable radios, but rechargeable are made from more
toxic materials which can be more harmful than disposable unless recycled.
