deliver Verb: to carry something to somebody


The mailman delivers letters and packages.
finish Verb: to complete, opposite of to start
I finished my homework at 8 o’clock.
give / Verb: to pass something to somebody
gave He finished the test and he gave it to the teacher.
mail Verb: to put in a mailbox
I wrote a letter yesterday. I mailed it to Ahmed today.
pick out Verb: to select; to choose
Ahmed bought a new car yesterday. He picked out a blue BMW.
send / Verb: to put in the mail; to mail
sent My wife sent her sister a letter yesterday.
show Verb: to let somebody see something
You must show your I.D. to cash a check at the bank.
sign Verb: to write your name
After I wrote the letter, I signed my name at the bottom.
also Adverb: in addition, likewise
Ahmed will go to Riyadh tomorrow. Ali will also go to Riyadh.
crowded Adjective: packed, full of people
There were many people in the bank. It was crowded.
near Adjective: close to, opposite of far
The commissary is near the post office. You can walk there.
address Noun: your house number + the street name, town, province & country
Before you mail the letter, write the address on the front of the envelope.
bank Noun: a place to save or borrow money
I need to go to the bank. I have to cash a check.
check Noun: a piece of paper that is used as money
I receive my salary in a check each month.
driver’s license Noun: a document that gives you permission to drive
You can’t drive until you get your driver’s license.
envelope Noun: a container for a letter
Put the letter in the envelope and mail it.
help Noun: assistance; aid
When I go to the bank, the teller always gives me some help.
identification Noun: I.D.
My driver’s license is good identification.
letter Noun: a piece of mail or written communication
I got a letter from my brother today.
letter carrier Noun: a company that moves letters from one place to another
Federal Express is a letter carrier company.

I received a lot of mail today. I got 2 letters and 3 packages.
mailman Noun: the person who delivers mail
The mailman delivered many letters today.
money order Noun: a check that one gets at a bank that is the same as money
My brother needs money. I’m going to send him a money order.
package Noun: parcel, a box delivered in the mail
I received a package yesterday. It was full of books.
postcard Noun: a card with a picture for sending in the mail without an envelop
I received a postcard from my friend. He’s on holiday in Egypt.
post office Noun: a place to mail letters and buy stamps
Ahmed bought some stamps at the post office.
return address Noun: your address, written on the top left side of an envelope
When you send a letter, be sure your return address is on the envelope.
stamp Noun: a sticker that shows you paid for the mail to be delivered
Put the stamp on the letter before you mail it.
street Noun: a road
Olaya street is in Riyadh.
teller Noun: a person who works at the counter in a bank
My wife is a bank teller.
traveler’s check Noun: a check that is the same as cash when you sign it
It’s not safe to carry cash. Carry traveler’s checks.
cash a check Verb Phrase: to give a check to the bank for cash
I need some cash. I’ll go to the bank and cash a check.
in line Prepositional Phrase: waiting behind another person
Sue is waiting in line. There are 3 people in front of her.
