TCG NEBS Compliance Test Report Date: December 28, 2011

Test Location:
The following evaluation was performed by Francis Chau on 05/18/11 and 05/19/11 at MET Laboratories, Inc., 914 W.
Patapsco Ave., Baltimore, MD 21230.

Test Method:
The EUT was isolated from the ground plane by up to 12 mm of insulating material located on the turntable of a 3 m semi-
anechoic chamber. The associated cables of the EUT were routed in order to simulate a typical installation. Various
antennas were placed near the EUT and a pre-scan was performed in order to identify prominent radiated emissions. This
was used as a guide for final measurements.

For final radiated emissions measurements below 30 MHz, an active rod antenna, bonded to the ground plane, was placed
3 m away from the EUT. At each frequency of interest, the EUT was rotated in order to maximize the emission and the
data was recorded.

For frequencies between 30 MHz and 1000 MHz, a biconilog antenna was used for final emissions measurements. The
antenna was located 3 m from the EUT on an adjustable mast. At each frequency of interest, the EUT was rotated and the
antenna height was varied between 1 m and 4 m in order to maximize the emission. Measurements in both horizontal and
vertical polarities were made and the data was recorded.

For frequencies above 1 GHz, a ridge-guide horn antenna was used. The antenna was located 1 m away from the EUT and
the data collected was corrected for comparison to a 3 m limit. At each frequency of interest, the EUT was rotated and the
antenna height was varied accordingly dependent upon the physical dimensions of the EUT. Measurements in both
horizontal and vertical polarities were made and the data was recorded.

Tests were first performed with any doors and covers opened per Objective O3-3. If the criteria of Objective O3-3 was
met, then Requirements R3-2 and R3-4 were considered met. However, if the criteria of Objective O3-3 were not met,
retesting to Requirement R3-2 with the doors and covers closed was performed. The data collected in O3-3 need only be
compared to R3-4 with the doors and covers open to determine compliance to R3-4.

Test Results:
The EUT was compliant with Requirement R3-2 [8]. Measured emissions were below applicable limits.
The EUT was compliant with Objective O3-3 [9]. Measured emissions were below applicable limits.
The EUT was compliant with Requirement R3-4 [10]. Measured emissions were below applicable limits.

Test Method:
The associated cables of the EUT were routed in order to simulate a typical installation. Various antennas were placed
near the EUT and a pre-scan was performed in order to identify prominent radiated emissions. This was used as a guide
for final measurements.

For unwanted emissions and not the fundamental frequency of the EUT;
The final radiated emissions measurements below 30 MHz, an active rod antenna, bonded to the ground plane, was placed

Tests were first performed with any doors and covers opened per Objective O3-8. If the criteria of Objective O3-8 was
met, then Requirements R3-6 was considered met. However, if the criteria of Objective O3-8 was not met, retesting to
Requirement R3-6 with the doors and covers closed was performed.

For fundamental frequency of the EUT;

The transmitter was set to the mid channel at the highest output power. The EUT was rotated and the antenna height was
varied between 1 m and 4 m in order to maximize the emission. Measurements in both horizontal and vertical polarities
were made and the data was recorded. Measurement was repeated for the lowest and highest channels.

For frequencies between 30 MHz and 1 GHz, a biconilog antenna was used for final emissions measurements.
Measurements were made using 120 kHz bandwidth with detector according to 47CFR and applicable rule part of
intentional radiators.

For frequencies above 1 GHz, a ridge-guide horn antenna was used. Measurements were made using 1 MHz bandwidth
with detector according to 47CFR and applicable rule part of intentional radiators.

Test Results:
The EUT was not applicable with Requirement R3-5 [160]. EUT has no intentional radiator.
The EUT was not applicable with Requirement R3-6 [161]. EUT has no intentional radiator.
The EUT was not applicable with Requirement R3-7 [162]. EUT has no intentional radiator.
The EUT was not applicable with Objective O3-8[163]. EUT has no intentional radiator.

Test Method:
The EUT was placed on the turntable of a 3 m semi-anechoic chamber. A loop antenna was placed 3 m away from the
EUT. The center of the loop antenna was at a height of 1m above the chamber floor. Emission scans were run from 10
kHz to 30 MHz in accordance with GR-1089-CORE, Section 3.2.1.2. The lowest frequency of measurement shall be at
least 10% lower than the slowest EUT clock/oscillator frequency (but not less than 60 Hz). The measurements were made
with the antenna in the coaxial (loop parallel) and planar (loop perpendicular) orientations while the EUT was rotated. All
data was compiled, corrected for antenna factors and cable loss, and graphed along with the Magnetic Emissions limit line.
Peak emissions within 3 dB of the limit line were re-measured with a band appropriate detector (average or quasi-peak).

Test Results:
The EUT was compliant with Requirement R3-9 [11]. Measured emissions were below applicable limits.

is to be performed with all the EUT doors and covers closed.

Test Location:
The following evaluation was performed by Francis Chau on 05/17/11 and 05/18/11 at MET Laboratories, Inc., 914 W.
Patapsco Ave., Baltimore, MD 21230.

Test Method:
The EUT was located in an absorber-lined shielded enclosure no closer than 1 m from the rear wall. The chamber and
signal generator/amplification system was calibrated to ensure a uniform RF field with no EUT present. Field strengths
and system control settings were recorded during calibration and were replayed during testing.

From 10 kHz to 1 GHz, the frequency step-size was no greater than 1%. The scan frequency step size from 1 GHz to 8
GHz was no greater than 0.1%, and from 8 GHz to 10 GHz, no greater than 0.05%. For frequencies in the range of 10
kHz to 1 GHz, the test signal was amplitude modulated 80% with a 1 kHz tone. For the frequency range of 1GHz to 10
GHz, the test signal was pulse-modulated with the modulating signal having a 0.1 μs pulse rise time, a 1 μs pulse width,
and a 1 kHz pulse repetition rate. Throughout testing, the EUT was closely monitored for signs of susceptibility. The test
was performed with all the EUT doors and covers closed.

Test Results:
The EUT was compliant with Requirement R3-16 [16]. The EUT meets this requirement.

CONDUCTED IMMUNITY CRITERIA FOR AC AND DC POWER PORTS (3.3.2)

Criteria:
R3-19 [19] This requirement has been deleted.
R3-20 [130] The EUT shall perform properly when electromagnetic energy is injected longitudinally (common-
mode) into each power port of the EUT, one port at a time, at the previously calibrated limits given in
Table3-11. If the EUT fails the pre-calibrated limit of Table 3-11 because of excessive coupling, the
injected current into the EUT leads may be adjusted to a level 6 dB above the calibration current of
Table 3-11. If the EUT performs properly after the current is adjusted, then the EUT is considered to
have met the criteria. In general, performance criteria are found in the applicable Telcordia Generic
Requirements, national and international standards; examples of particular performance criteria are
found in Section3.5.3. The lower limit applies at the band edges. In Table 3-11, f is the frequency of the
injected electromagnetic energy in MHz.

Minimum Calibration Line

(dBArms)
0.01 to 0.15 89 to 80.5* (-7.25 log10 f + 74.5)
0.15 to 30 80.5
* Decreases linearly with the logarithm of the frequency (f).
Table 10-23. Conducted Immunity Requirements for Power Ports (Table 3-11 of GR-1089)

Test Location:
The following evaluation was deemed not applicable by Francis Chau at MET Laboratories, Inc., 914 W. Patapsco Ave.,
Baltimore, MD 21230.

Test Method:
The EUT was located over a reference ground-plane powered through 50Ω/50μH LISNs. The LISNs were terminated
with 50Ω loads. A monitoring RF current probe connected to a spectrum analyzer was installed around the power cable
under test less than 5 cm from the EUT. The injecting RF current probe was installed around the power cable under test
between 10 cm and 30 cm away from the EUT.

The signal generator output was connected to the appropriate RF amplifier. The output of the RF amplifier was connected
to the injecting probe. Both the signal generator and the monitoring spectrum analyzer were controlled by a local
computer.

A pre-calibrated playback file swept the power cable from the frequency range of 10 kHz to 30 MHz. Any signs of
susceptibility were noted, and the injection signal reduced until the signs of susceptibility were not noticeable. This value
was then recorded as the susceptibility threshold.

Test Results:
The EUT was not applicable with Requirement R3-20 [130]. EUT has no AC power.

CONDUCTED IMMUNITY REQUIREMENTS FOR SIGNAL LEADS (3.3.3.1)

Criteria:
R3-21 [131] The EUT shall perform properly when electromagnetic energy is injected longitudinally (common-
mode) into signal leads associated with each kind of port of the EUT, one kind of port at a time, at the
previously calibrated limits given in Table 3-11. At least one of the identical ports in the EUT shall be
tested. If the EUT fails the pre-calibrated limit of Table 3-11 because of excessive coupling, the injected
current into the EUT leads may be adjusted to a level 6 dB above the calibration current of Table 3-11.
If the EUT performs properly after the current is adjusted, then the EUT is considered to have met the
criteria. In general, performance criteria are found in the applicable Telcordia Generic Requirements,
