Cold Chisels ‘The point of the chisels shall be kept sharp at all time and the striking surface or head of the chisel is not hardened and is designed to mushroom with repeated used. The resulting mushroom must be dressed periodically to prevent metal chips from flying off hammer head slip and strike on to the gripping hand. Spanner Or Wrenches Only correct size of spanner shall be use at all times. Never use metric spanner on equipmentthat is not metric or non metric tools on metric equipment. Never hammer on a spanner wich is not designed for that purpose. Any damage spanner must be disposed of immemdiately. Hammer Wrenches Hammer wrenches or flogging spanners are designed to be struck with a hammer to tighten bolts. The striking face of the wrench must be kept well dress and free from mushroom. This will easily exceed the design strength and cause the socket fail. Hand drive must never be used with power driven socket equipment. Adjustable Spanner Adjustable Spanner shall not be struck by hammer to loosen tight bolt and nuts. It always fit a nut loosely and always present of slipping off, Adjustable spanner shail be used for easily loosened nuts and bolts. Hacksaws The teeth should point forward and the cutting work is done on the forward stroke. Ensure the blade is in good condition and it tight. Tha start of a cut can be dangerous because there is no grove to start with and finger can be easily be injured when the saw jumps out of place initialy. Hacksaws can not be used to cut externally hard or case hardened material, Eye protection must be worn. Abrasive Grinders Hand Grinders 6.9.1.
