CHAPTER IV

Result and Discussion

Requirements Specification

ICT department of PENRO, specifically the in-charge ICT personnel is responsible in

handling the network monitoring system in PENRO. As for the result gathered in the latter

chapters, the developers provide a solution that helps the in-charge personnel to lessen the

common problem encountered in the existing network monitoring system.

Functional Specification

The following are the functionalities of the proposed system.

a) The administrator can manipulate the internet usage of their client/employee

b) A message will prompt to the connected devices in the network when the internet can

only be used by the admin.

c) The system can monitor all the activities of the connected devices to the network.

d) The system will also be able to monitor the activities of the wireless devices connected to

the network.

e) The administrator can manipulate the connected devices in the network.

f) The administrator will be able to restrict the devices from accessing unnecessary

websites.

g) Only registered users will be able to access the internet.

h) Only the admin can access the software.

i) Generate reports such as uptime/downtime report, Internet usage report and Login

Results of the Feasibility Analysis

Operational Feasibility

Series of interviews were done and questionnaires were used in able to identify the

operational feasibility of the proposed system (see Appendix F). As the result of the interviews,

even though the ICT department has existing system for network monitoring, there are still

difficulties encountered in monitoring their network system. The in-charge ICT personnel have

difficulties in tracking which computer is using too much internet/bandwidth because the

existing system focuses only on the Uptime and Downtime report of the internet on their network

system.

During the study of the system, the number of existing ICT resources and its specification

were also collected to further analyze the operational feasibility of the system (see Appendix G).

After studying the existing system, to help the ICT personnel and the department, the developers

decided to have a proposal system. The proposed system focuses on the desire of the respondent

to make their network monitoring system easy to use and more accurate in terms of generating

reports.

The developers will assess the in-charge ICT personnel who will probably be the admin

of the system. The ICT personnel and the department’s staffs are computer literate. Therefore,

training seminars would not be needed. But if not, then the developers will come up to compose

some seminars for the persons who will use the system so they can use the proposed system

properly.

Technical Feasibility

In order to develop the proposed system, proper and computer hardware and software are

analyzed accordingly. Computer hardware is specifically used for continuous development of the

proposed system without encountering a problem that might affect the development process.

System and application software were chosen and properly installed.
