MULTIPLES
A Multiple of a number is formed by multiplying the number by 1, 2,
3, 4, 5, ------
- Example: The numbers 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24------are multiples of 4.
-E.g. the multiples of 6 are – 6, 12, 18, 24… (and so on). Here
24 is the 4TH Multiple of 6.

PROPERTIES OF MULTIPLES 1)Every number is a multiple of itself.

2)Every number is a multiple of 1 1 X 5 = 5. Hence 5 is a multiple of 5.

7 X 1=7. Hence 7 is a multiple of 1 1 X 3 = 3. Hence ____ is a multiple of 3.
8 X 1 =8. Hence ___ is a multiple 1
4 X 1 =4. Hence ___ is a multiple 1 1 X 4 = 4. Hence _____ is a multiple of 4.

3) The Multiple of a number is always greater than or

equal to the number.
4) A number has an
The smallest multiple of the number is the number uncountable number
itself. of multiples.
There is no greatest
multiple of a number.
