Aims / objectives of Guidance and Counseling in Schools
1) To help the total development of a student
- The emphasis on intellectual development alone may not be enough. For this reason guidance and counseling is aimed at helping students to understand themselves and their various needs in order to develop their potential fully.
2) To help learners to make proper choices in life.
At a particular level students need to make decision on career that they need to follow. For this reason they need guidance in order to make better choices for proper goal achievement in life.
3) To help student in professional development
There are always changing requirements for industrial job and changing labour market trends. Guidance and counseling therefore provides help to the students especially in their early stages of this development.
4) Help students make proper adjustment at school and at homes.
Guidance and counseling give skills which help learners to balance between school activities and home activities for proper development.
