1. DEFINITION OF PRODUCE
This Standard applies to commercial varieties of avocados grown from Persea americana
Mill., of the Lauraceae family, to be supplied fresh to the consumer, after preparation and
packaging.
2. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
In all classes, subject to the special provisions for each class and the tolerances allowed,
the avocados must be: (i) whole; (ii) healthy (without rotting or deterioration); (iii) clean, free
of any visible foreign matter; (iv) free of abnormal external moisture; (v) free of sun burn or
any malformations; (vi) free of wounds, mechanical damage or branch damage; (viii) free of
estrange smells and/or tastes; (xi) exempt of pests and/or diseases, anthracnose, stalk
rottenness, cold damage or A.C., or any evidence of these; and, (x) having a stalk in at least
95% of the avocados per box.
3. MATURITY REQUIREMENTS
The avocados must have reached a stage of physiological development which will ensure
the completion of the ripening process, in accordance with criteria proper to the variety and
to the area in which they are grown. The mature fruit should be free of bitterness. The
development and condition of the avocados must be such as to enable them to withstand
transport and handling; and to arrive in satisfactory condition at the place of destination.
4. SIZES
Avocados can be sized by the weight (gr.) of the fruit, in accordance with the following table:

The net weight per box should be ≥4kg (in a mantle); the weights in each box should be
homogeneous.
5. CLASSIFICATION
All avocados should be of the following category:
Cat. I : Superior quality; dark green color (characteristic of the variety) and
homogeneous in color. Shape, coloration and roughness of the variety
(looking for the lowest possible roughness); without superficial
defects; peduncles present in at least 95% of the pieces; absent of
necrosis, mold and/or rot.
6. PRESENTATION
6.1. Homogeneity:
The content of each recipient must be uniform and also consist of avocados of the
same origin, size, development and degree of maturation. To ensure the uniformity of
size between the fruits in the same container when they are classified by counting, the

weight of the smallest fruit should not be less than 75% of the weight of the biggest
fruit in the same container. The visible part of the contents of the container must be
representative of the entire contents.
6.2. Packaging:
Avocados have been wrapped in a way to ensure that the produce is properly
protected. The packaging must be of cardboard boxes for food use, for single use and
without damage or deformation. The containers must satisfy the requirements of
quality, hygiene, ventilation and resistance to ensure the handling, transport and
conservation of the avocados. The containers must be free of any foreign matter or
smell.
6.3. Palletization:
100x200 pallets.Wood treated in compliance with EU regulations on health (ISPM 15).
Palletizing, anterior corners covers pallets and straps correctly placed. 4 pallet
identification signs, one for each side.

7. CONTAMINANTS
The produce shall comply with the maximum limits of the General Standard for
Contaminants and Toxins in Food and Feed (CODEX STAN 193-1995) and the maximum
pesticide residue limits established by the Codex Alimentarius Commission.
8. TRANSPORTATION
Temperature: 4 – 8 degrees centigrade Relative Humidity: 85% - 95%
The goods must be transported along with temperature recorders indicating in the attached
documentation the serial and model numbers of the thermometers, as well as the position
(pallet number, height of the box, etc.) where they are located.
10. OTHERS
At the moment of reception and maturation, the pulp will be absent of any type of
necrosis (it will never cut in black).
The requirements of size and net weight of the box must be fulfilled simultaneously.
All shipments must comply fully with the regulations established in the phytosanitary
protocol for avocados between Peru and China. In case any does not comply, the
supplier will be responsible for all damages, direct and indirect, that could be caused.
