Chinese Spy Balloons:

Anchor #1: On January 28, 2023 a Chinese
surveillance balloon entered the U.S airspace. With the
Defense Department tracking the balloon's location it is
said that it was located near Alaska as it made its way
down to the US. On February 1st the balloon was
tracked over the state of Montana to then be shot 2 days
later off the coast of South Carolina. Since then 3 more
UFOs were identified and shot down in US airspace.
President Biden stated that those objects were likely not
surveillance balloons and responded by saying and I
quote, "As I've said since the beginning of my
administration, we seek competition, not conflict, with
China".

Anchor #2: Speaking of Foreign Countries, A tragedy

has taken place in England.

Brianna Ghey:
Anchor #2: On February 11th, Brianna Ghey, a 16 year
old transgender girl, was murdered at Culcheth Linear
Park, a local park in Warrington, England. Brianna
Ghey was stabbed to death by two 15 year olds, a girl
and boy, who live in the area. At 3:13 pm, emergency
services were called. Investigators are still searching to
rule this as a hate crime. Almost £90,000 has been
raised online in honor of Brianna Ghey.

Anchor #1: The Ghey family has received a lot of

support, and Brianna's story continues to reach millions of
people. In other news…

Plastic bag ban

Anchor #1: The plastic bag ban was instilled on May
4th, 2022. This specifically banned plastic bags and
styrofoam food products including plates, insulated
beverage cups, bowls, clamshell food containers, and
trays. This is one of the first steps, all in an effort to
reduce the amount of waste generated from discarded
packaging products by January 1st, 2036. At first, some
New Jersey citizens were apprehensive, saying it was
too inconvenient. Some people were even stealing the
store baskets with their groceries inside. Now, in 2023,
it's become a way of life in New Jersey.

Anchor #2: The Director of the New Jersey Sierra

Club stated - "New Jersey has now become a national
leader in going after plastics and protecting our
environment." Residents can expect big change in the
near future: By Jan. 1, 2032: All single-use packaging
products be reduced 25% by volume. At least 10% of
this would be achieved by shifting to refillable or
reusable products.
By Jan. 1, 2034: All single-use packaging products be
recyclable or compostable. And by Jan. 1, 2036: All
packaging products must have a recycled rate of no less
than 65%.
