7. CHED Scholarship 2023 Online Application Open Now

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) is an attached agency to the Office of the President for
administrative purposes. Its creation was part of a broad agenda of reforms on the country’s education system
outlined by the Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM) in 1992. Part of the reforms was the
trifocalization of the education sector into three governing bodies: the CHED for tertiary and graduate
education, the Department of Education (DepEd) for basic education and the Technical Education and Skills
Development Authority (TESDA) for technical-vocational and middle-level education.

CHED has been given the national government’s commitment to transformational leadership that puts
education as the central strategy for investing in the Filipino people, reducing poverty, and building national
competitiveness and pursuant to Republic Act 7722.

Eligibility Criteria of CHED Scholarship 2023

To be eligible for the CHED Scholarship 2023, the applicant must be a Filipino citizen who is either a
graduating high school student or a high school graduate. For FSSP and FPESFA, the student must
have a General Weighted Average (GWA) of 96% or above, while for half SSP and half PESFA, a
GWA of 93% but not more than 95% is required. Moreover, the combined annual gross income of the
applicant’s parent(s) or guardian(s) should not exceed PhP 400,000. If it surpasses the limit,
applicants can provide written certification or medical findings of family member illness or school
certifications of two or more dependents enrolled in college, university, or higher education institution.
Lastly, the applicant should only avail of a single government-funded financial assistance program.

Priority Courses for CHED Scholarship 2023

Qualified CHED Scholarship 2022/2023 beneficiaries can enroll in CHED priority courses, which are
listed in the CHED Memorandum Order No. 10 series of 2021. This memorandum provides detailed
information on the allocation of priority programs, career guidance, and other relevant information. It
also includes information on the rationale, the list of priority programs, the repealing and separability
clauses, and effectivity.

Application Requirements for CHED Scholarship 2023

To apply for the CHED Scholarship 2023, applicants must meet citizenship, academic, and financial
requirements. These include submitting a certified original copy of their birth certificate and high
school report card, and original copies of grades for grade 11 and first semester of grade 12 for
graduating high school students. Additionally, a certificate of excellent moral character from the last
school attended is required.

The financial obligations for the CHED Scholarship 2023 include any one of the following documents:
  Children of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and seafarers must present the most recent
copy of their contract or evidence of income.

 A tax exemption certificate from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)

currently receiving applications for its SM Scholarship Program for the upcoming academic year (AY) 2023-
2024. The program originated in 1993 when the late Henry Sy, Sr. recognized education as the key to combat
poverty. Over the years, the SM Foundation has awarded scholarships to numerous deserving high school
graduates, enabling them to flourish and achieve their goals, thereby creating a brighter future.

The SM College Scholarship is a program that has been in place for two decades and reflects the foundation’s
conviction that when a family member completes their college education, they can then assist their siblings in
pursuing their studies, leading to the upliftment of their families from poverty.

The SM College Scholarship offers the following benefits to its recipients:

Qualification

✔️The program is open to Grade 12 graduates of both public and private schools within the program’s
coverage areas. However, applicants from private schools must possess a DepEd voucher and have
completed Grade 10 in a public high school.
✔️General weighted average grade of at least 92% or its equivalent for Grade 12 – 1st semester.
✔️Total household income of at most P250,000 per year.

Following is a step-by-step guide to becoming an SM Foundation Scholar:

1. Fill out the Application Form Online – Access the SM College Scholarship website using a computer with a
stable internet connection. Click on the STUDENT tab on the landing page, then hit the Register button.
Provide all the necessary information in the online application form and upload the following documents: a
copy of your parent’s or guardian’s 2017 Income Tax Return / Certification of Non-Filing of Income / Certificate
of Indigency; your latest Grade 12 or 4th-year report card; your birth certificate; a 2×2 ID picture, and a sketch
of your home’s location to the nearest SM mall.

2. Confirm Your Application – Log in to the SM Scholarship Online System within seven days after submitting
your online application to verify your scholarship application. If you fail to confirm your application within this
period, your application form will be invalid.
3. Wait for Notification – The Foundation will review and evaluate your application form and other documents.
Expect an email notification regarding whether you qualify or if your application is incomplete or lacks
requirements.

4. Take the Online Exam – Once you confirm your online application, you will receive an email indicating your
examination schedule within 15 days. The exam results will be announced on the same day.

5. Undergo Online Interview – Applicants who pass the exam will undergo an interview via Google Meet with
the SM Foundation. You will receive the interview schedule and results through email.

6. Virtual Home Visit – Random virtual home visits via Google Meet will be made to applicants who passed the
interview.

7. Confirm Your Course and School – You will be contacted to confirm your chosen course and school after
completing all the preceding steps.

8. Attend the Orientation and Sign the Contract – You will receive an email with the schedule for the orientation
and contract signing.

Hawak Kamay Scholarship
The Extended Hawak Kamay Scholarship for the academic year 2023-2024 has been announced by
Southwestern University PHINMA. This scholarship opportunity is open to senior high school, college, and
aspiring medicine students. The decision to offer this scholarship is in line with PHINMA Education’s goal of
building a society where every Filipino family has access to the basic necessities of life.

Recipients of the HK Scholarship will be granted financial support without the need to maintain a certain grade

The Hawak Kamay Scholarship for tertiary education is available to all incoming first-year college students,
