SDSU Graduate Business Programs <gradbusiness@sdsu.edu> Fri, 2 Jun at 9:59 PM
To: <pandekartiki@gmail.com>

Dear Kartiki,

Congratulations! On behalf of the admissions committee for MSIS, I am happy to inform you

that we have recommended that you be admitted for a Fall 2023 start date.

We are confident that you have the intellectual skills, motivation, and academic interests to
succeed in our program. Your acceptance assures that the program faculty have agreed to
work with you to achieve your degree objectives.

At SDSU, you will be supported by a large team of faculty and staff. Amanda Yousif is your
graduate advisor for this Master’s program. Please contact her with questions about course
registration decisions, possible substitutions for degree requirements, or general concerns
about progress in the program. She will help you navigate through our program if unexpected
challenges arise. All program faculty are here to support you in making good progress
towards degree completion each semester.

Complete the Core/Prerequisite Waiver Survey

Please complete the survey linked here as soon as you are able. This survey is the first step
to further communication regarding your registration and course planning as you prepare to
begin classes this fall.  It should take less than five minutes to complete.  Thank you!

Costs
For SDSU students, educational costs include 1) Basic tuition (sometimes referred to as
"California resident tuition” or “in-state tuition"), 2) nonresident tuition (for those who are not
California residents), 3) mandatory student fees, 4) professional program fees (for all Fowler
graduate degree programs), and 5) other miscellaneous and optional fees. This web page in
Student Account Services lists them all. Most graduate students live off campus, but there
are a limited number of on-campus apartments. Please see this web page for additional
information about on-campus housing.

Housing
Most graduate students live off campus. Please see the following website for housing
resources.

Financial Aid (FAFSA)

We strongly encourage you to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
so that you can be considered for all types of federal, state, and institutional financial aid
programs such as grants, loans, and federal work study. Apply online
at https://studentaid.gov. Be sure to include SDSU in your list of schools on your FAFSA. Our
university code is 001151. Also, be sure to use the IRS data retrieval tool to automatically
transfer your tax information to your FAFSA to minimize errors.
Eligible California Dreamers can submit a California Dream Application (dream.csac.ca.gov)
to be considered for the State University Grant.

Scholarships
San Diego State has over 700 scholarship opportunities to support our students’ educational
goals. Funding for our scholarships has been provided by generous donors to SDSU who
believe in higher education and your ability to achieve academic success. For more
information about applying for SDSU scholarships visit https://sdsu.edu/scholarships.

If you are an international student, the SDSU International Student Center (ISC) will support
you in many aspects of student life. These include visa and immigration information,
considerations when arriving in San Diego, and how to get involved on campus. Please
thoroughly explore the ISC website. After you submit your Intent to Enroll (see below), you
will receive guidance on how to request immigration documents. The ISC can assist you
through this process.

In addition to the above resources, graduate students are supported by the College of

Graduate Studies for university-wide academic matters and special students’ petitions.
The Office for Graduate Life and Diversity provides a variety of personal, professional,
financial, and social resources. Feel free to browse their web sites or reach out to them.

It is important that you monitor your email daily for updates from Graduate Admissions and
other campus units. The two most common issues are:
1. Graduate Admissions will also send you a formal admission offer by email, signed by
the Graduate Dean. That offer will contain further instructions regarding your
acceptance, including the deadline to declare your “Intent to Enroll”.  Closely follow
those instructions and complete Intent to Enroll before the stated deadline. Your
acceptance is not final until you formally declare Intent to Enroll.
2. You may be contacted about missing documents, such as final official transcripts or
international diplomas. It is critical that you complete all requests by the
communicated deadlines, or your admission offer could be canceled. If you have any
questions about admission documents, please contact Graduate Admissions at
<admissions@sdsu.edu>.
3. You will be contacted regarding Fowler Graduate Orientation, typically scheduled
during the Friday and Saturday prior to class start.
All of these require your prompt attention! Monitor the email address you used for admission.

Please let us know as soon as you’ve made a decision by email. Before the start of classes,
there will be more opportunities to learn about our program and the SDSU student
community and resources. I look forward to seeing you at Fowler graduate program’s
orientation, tentatively scheduled for August 19, 2023 from 6-830 PM and August 20, 2023
from 9-12 AM.

The Office of New Student and Parent Programs also coordinates a separate optional ($300)
First Year Experience for all new SDSU graduate students. This will provide access to a
university-wide orientation event this summer, and also a number of activities throughout the
year. Click on the above link to learn more.
Finally, I’d like you to know that SDSU has a Graduate Student Health Insurance Program
“GSHIP” which includes all domestic graduate students. (GSHIP does not include
international students, whose health insurance is coordinated through the International
Student Center. It also excludes graduate programs that 100% online or offered through
SDSU Global Campus.) SDSU’s suggested option is to purchase a student health insurance
plan with rates negotiated by the university. Students who already have insurance need to
complete an opt-out process by submitting proof of their current health insurance
coverage. GSHIP students are required to maintain and provide proof of health insurance
annually. More information on GSHIP requirements, university resources and associated
services is available at sdsu.edu/gship. Details will be available in late spring 2023 regarding
the required opt-out process, benefits and costs for the university-negotiated plan,
and important deadlines.

Congratulations again, and I sincerely hope you will decide to join us! Please contact your
Graduate Advisor at ayousif@sdsu.edu if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Congcong Zheng
