MGT162: GROUP PROJECT (45%)

INSTRUCTIONS
Students are required to form groups of 5 to 6 members.
Each group has two (2) options. Whether to create their own company OR they can choose any
available company in the existing industry. The project's theme will be determined by the lecturer (e.g.:
food and beverage industry).
Students must write a report and create a video presentation based on their understanding of the
lesson material. Each group is required to turn in a comprehensive written report and a video
presentation toward the end of the semester through ONLINE MEDIUM OR ANY MEDIUM that the
lecturer deems appropriate.

GUIDELINES
This project should focus on the following guidelines:
A. Title Page
B. Table of Contents
C. Acknowledgement
D. Introduction
i. Company Background
ii. Levels of Management
iii. Types of Managers & explain the skills involved for the different managers.
E. Main body of the report
i. Planning
 Vision, Mission
 Types of plans- Explain Standing Plan & Single Use Plan in your company OR selected
company. Provide example OR evidence.
ii. Organizing
 Types of departmentalization / organizational structure which involved in your company
OR selected company.
 Types of organizational structure either flat or wide structure. Provide a diagram of the
structure.
iii. Locus of Decision Making
 Program decision & non-program decision (provide an example on your company OR
selected company dealing with a problem/issue to come out with a decision making).
iv. Motivation
 Choose one (1) of the motivation theories based on the syllabus content that best
explain how your company OR selected company can motivate the employees.
v. Leading
 Choose one (1) of the leadership theories based on the syllabus content that best
explain how the leader in your company OR selected company lead the company.
vi. Controlling
 Choose either types of control OR process of control to be explained in your report to
see how managers conduct controlling function. Provide example OR evidence.

GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR WRITTEN REPORT (30%)


1) The assignment should be typed with 1.5 spacing on A4-sized using Times New Roman (12)
OR Arial (11) font ONLY for 15-20 pages (excluding Title Page, Table of Contents and,
Acknowledgement).
2) The due date is on weeks 12. However, students are advised to begin their assignments in
advance, and their progress will be monitored periodically.
3) For late submissions, marks will be deducted.
4) Strictly NO PLAGIARISM. You will receive a "F" if you are found guilty. Please attach the
Similarity Report for Ouriginal. The percentage of similarity must be less than 30%.
GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR PRESENTATION (15%)
1) You are required to prepare a FORMAL VIDEO presentation based on your group project.
2) Each student must present their part of the group project.
3) However, the presentation's scores will be evaluated individually.
4) Make sure YOU ARE PRESENTING, NOT READING from the report.
5) Be creative. You are encouraged to use an interesting way to present.
6) Language to be used is ENGLISH.
7) Total time for presentation is between 15-18 minutes only (2-3 minutes per individual).
8) The video MUST include these particulars: -
a) Details of Group Members.
b) Concentrating on the important points rather than the entire text.
c) Precise and creative presentation.
9) Submission  Week 12
10) Late submission will not be entertained.
