educational evidence assembled for the purpose of (1) evaluating coursework quality,
learning progress, and academic achievement; (2) determining whether the learning
outcomes of the program have been met; (3) helping students reflect on the academic goals

DEDICATION

As well as everything that I do, I would be honor to dedicate this Final Portfolio to
Almighty God who guide me in everything I did, and to my parents. The two
persons that gave the tools and values necessary to be where I am standing today.
My parents support me on every step I make, and decision I take; but is necessary
to understand that they let me take my decisions alone in order for me to learn
from my personal mistake and as my father says to “learn and grow from each
seatback”. I will never finish to thank my father and my mother for all the
opportunities that they have offer and gave me, for all the teachings that they have
told me and for every advise that come out of their mouth. I am so graceful with
them for trusting me that I would do a Good job in the university, and letting me
come to achieve a higher education.

So that’s why I dedicate this Portfolio to my parents, whom expect my effort on

every thing that I do, and I think that this Final Portfolio is the perfect image and
reflection of my effort and hard work on my first semester on the university.

Mom & Dad: I hope that I can make you proud, the same way that I am proud of
having both of you as my parents and as the compass of my life!

REFLECTIONS

20
Reflection on the Assessment Task

Reflection on the Assessment Task Over the past weeks I have been challenged and
intrigued over and over by the content of this course. Both in the discussions of the
material presented by the instructor, and by the research and presentations
performed. It has been a very enlightening, enthralling experience, that far
surpasses. I think that this program, or at least the Education course, is a great
introduction to the rigors of college academic life, and is well worth the effort
required to be successful in it. I have learned many new skills and improved on
skills I already possessed, as well as growing and changing as a persons. I have
encountered issues which forced me to listen to people's views even though I
disagreed with them, and accepted that there would not always be consensus in all
things. I don't think I improved my time management skills enough, because I still
don't set my own goals and benchmarks for getting my assignments completed on
time to my own standards of quality. I would definitely like to improve my ability to
take constructive criticism and use it properly to improve my essays and papers. I
think I also have to improve on my ability to truly respectfully listen to other
people's opinions without reacting to them, especially in a manner that could be
offensive to the speaker. To improve in these areas I think I need to make it a point
to start things earlier, set goals for myself independent of the due dates of
assignments so that I have time to get peer reviews and other critiques, as well as
ample time to revise and rethink my positions and statements so as to more
effectively communicate my message. I need to practice listening to people I
disagree with so that I can maintain my composure in the face of ideas I strongly
disagree with. Losing that composure destroys my credibility when I attempt to
rebut people's arguments, and it is likely to lessen their inclination to listen to my
position on the matter at hand.

Composure in front of a crowd is probably the skill that I would like to improve the
most, next to time management. The only way to improve my presentation skills is
to practice them, so I will attempt in the future to jump at every opportunity to
present something. I have been shown how effectively good time management can
increase my productivity, when I've used it, and if I can increase the percentage of
the time that I apply my good time management skills, I will be better able to
handle the rigors of a full college workload. Overall, I think that this year has been
a great journey, I have learned a lot, including the fact that I still have a lot to
learn, and I hope to continue improving my skills as a student so that I can be
successful.

Reflection on the Performance in the Assessment Task

Performance assessment is especially useful for assessing students’ achievement of

a complex learning standard. Be carefully designed so that the student responses
really do give evidence of the knowledge and skills we are trying to assess.
Performance criteria must be clear and help me as a students focus on those
things, particularly, so they can “show what they know.” Performance tasks help
show students what real work in a discipline looks like and what it means to be a
student, And when students understand the criteria for success with a learning task
and apply those criteria as they work, research shows that their performance and
their achievement increase.

When students become reflective about the teaching and learning process, they are
strengthening their own capacity to learn. Central to this is the principle of
reflection as metacognition, where students are aware of and can describe their
thinking in a way that allows them to "close the gap" between what they know and
what they need to learn.

For me, College students are very impressionable when it comes to how to act in
the workplace. In this institution, I develop habits, like how to study and how to
write properly, but I am not fully prepared to go into the working field. The self-
assessments, provided by my Professor gave me a chance to know what I need to
improve or maintain. Also, it allowed me to explore our values, opportunities, and
strengths, something that I have never done before. Although some of my self-
assessments gave me results that I expected, they revealed many things about
myself that were surprising

22
Reflection on the Attainment of the Course Outcomes

The chosen course provides a positive experience for students due to the
achievement of an appropriate study atmosphere and the establishment of
beneficial student-teacher relationships. Attaining the study group’s confidence
permitted instituting a functional feedback mechanism, which allowed those in
attendance to demonstrate their grasp of the learned material and give
recommendations on bettering the course based on personal experience.
Consequently, Student Learning Outcomes were sufficiently achieved, leaving both
learners and their lector satisfied with the pupils’ level of attained knowledge and
competencies.

Considering the assistance provided by technology, it may be necessary, as an

educator, to continue integrating online resources into the education process. This
aspiration makes mastering a new educational platform before the end of this
semester essential objective, the success of which may be measured by the
transfer of learning materials to the more modern program.

24
Reflection on the Vision, Mission, and Core Values

The University of the Visayas (UV) builds and embraces a sustainable research
culture while harnessing the talents and potentials of its stakeholders and
promoting cultural, environmental, spiritual, and societal responsibility. To bridge
the gap between students' career choice and their aptitudes. To provide functional
learning experiences congruent to industry needs and community services. To
maximize exposure of faculty to relevant professional experiences to enhance the
delivery on instruction
