Q # 1: How change in biodiversity will influence of Ecosystem services?

Ans: Biodiversity provides us with drinking water, oxygen to breathe, food, medicine,
decomposition of waste, and helps our planet withstand natural disasters. Ecological
biodiversity refers to the variation in the plants and animals species living together and
connected by food chain and food webs. Ecosystem based on adaptation like the effect of
climate change that effect the biodiversity.

Ecosystem services influence may be positive or negative on biodiversity.

Food
1. Climate change deteriorate the crop production.
2. Major variation in crop fertility.

Water
1. Biodiversity sustain the water cycle (water moving over and under the ground,
evaporate and transpire into the atmosphere, fall back to earth as rain or snow) and
is sustained by biodiversity.
2. Vegetation can affect local rainfall patterns. Large-scale removal of plants changes
these patterns.

Healing and recovery from natural disaster

1. A wide variety of species in an ecosystem provides an ecosystem with greater
resistance to disease and pest outbreaks.
2. Plants help protect soil from erosion.
3. Bacteria, insects, plants and other living creatures release nutrients and help
keep soils fertile.
4. An ecosystem with rich biodiversity is more resilient and able to withstand the
extinction of an individual species.
