Advice for Jane

Dear Ms. Eyre,

As your closest friend, I must advice you to stop
comparing yourself with Blanche Ingram. And I must
insist that you do not draw yourself or even Ms. Ingram,
for you are perfect just the way you are. Jane, I do not
mean to bring back unwanted memories, but I think your
unhappy memories with the Reed's family is to blame for
this lack of self confidence, If you didn't have such a
unpleasant childhood, I think you would have grown up
to be more confident in yourself. I don’t think you would
be pleased if your past interfered with your present. So,
please stop comparing yourself with someone, it isn't
going to get you anywhere. You have to face your
feelings, even if you might not like them. Your in love
with Mr. Rochester. Jane, you’re the brightest person I
know, your smart, honest, have a sense of self-worth and
so much more! And when it comes to beauty, why your
below nobody, Jane! Look at yourself in the mirror, do
not compare yourself with anyone, and tell me, are you
not beautiful? Jane, having pink cheeks, smooth skin and
graceful features doesn’t make someone beautiful, for all
you know they may be a murderer, or something even
worse! So you see, true beauty comes from within, not
from the outside. Now you tell me, do you love Mr.
Rochester because he is handsome? No, you love him
because there’s something about him that sets him apart
from everybody else, he’s different (in a good way). Mr.
Rochester may be in love with you too! So, my dear
friend do not lose hope, for he will love you for who you
are and not for how you look. I hope after reading this,
you will understand that your below no one and will
never be.

Yours truly, H.B.
