One of the natural disasters that can occur anywhere in the world is an

earthquake. It caused by abrupt displacement along Earth's fault lines. The

movement releases "elastic strain" energy that has been accumulated in the form of

seismic waves, which travel through the Earth and cause the ground surface to

tremble. We should be well-versed in what to do and not do during an earthquake

because we can never predict when or where it will happen.

Therefore, an earthquake drill was held at our school. It is the dissemination

of information to educators and students as well as earthquake preparedness.

Everyone should be aware of what to do and what to avoid before, during, and after

the earthquake. We explain the concepts of duck, cover, and hold to our pupils and

their parents. It's crucial to do this, especially during earthquakes. By crouching

down and covering our heads with our arms and hands, we can protect our heads

from potentially heavy falling objects. Also, during an earthquake do not panic but

stay calm. It would be beneficial since it will enable us to follow the dos and don'ts

during an earthquake better and more effectively. Let's refrain from standing on

electric poles or other potentially dangerous items like cabinets, trees, chandeliers,

or other items that can fall. Stay away from damaged structures and other affected

locations. Since our head is the most crucial part of our body, let's not forget to

protect it.

It is important to have an earthquake drill inside the school campus to

educate the children as well as the school staff on what to do in case of an

earthquake. In such way they don't panic but be alert to the possible damages
caused by the earthquake. In addition, it will help us to be prepared and guide every

students on what to do especially in knowing the three main emergency drill which

are the duck, cover, and hold. Apart from this, they can also learn how to use the

different emergency tools when there is more problem occurred during the

earthquake. In order to avoid fear and to survive the calamity, we must have

enough information and knowledge about the earthquake. They say that, "Those

who are knowledgeable are secure."
