The age range of children I support are seven to eight, at this age, I would expect to see children being able to ride a two wheel bike, dress themselves for PE,
completing puzzles at wet play and be able to catch and throw a small ball as they will be developing physically. I also expect them to ask me tons of
questions to know the reasoning behind something such as, if the headteacher cancels assembly this week or their class teacher have not attended as they
will be developing their language by learning new vocabulary. At this stage they will be able to understand some words may be the same but have two
different meanings such as, leaves or right. Their emotional development will continue to develop however, at this stage they may offer help if they notice
someone is upset and will be able to express their feelings efficiently. You may notice they start to feel jealous if you give their peer a job to do, such as,
handing out the worksheets. Their social development will develop along with their speech as they will use a lot of imagination when they’re playing with
their friends but will share toys and books. Their moral develop at this stage will show signs of them understanding their actions will have a impact on other,
the school rules become important to them and they will want to be included when creating rules. When looking at their literacy work, I will expect to see the
children using their pencil correctly, using vocabulary for their age and expressing their feelings through writing. At this age I expect them to be able to read
and retell a story without looking at pictures.
