Teaching a subject that you are not confident in can be a challenging experience for any
teacher. However, as a teacher intern, I encountered this exact situation when I was asked
to teach mathematics, a subject that I knew I struggled with. Initially, I was hesitant to take
on the challenge but was urged to do so by my resource teacher, who had other paper
works to prioritize. Despite my nervousness, I decided to study the book, but I found it
difficult to understand. It was then that I realized I needed to find a different approach to
teaching the lesson.

Insights

I turned to modern technology and searched for resources online. I came across a video
lesson in YouTube created by a public school teacher in our country, which discussed the
topic I needed to teach - Comparing, Arranging, and Rounding Decimal Numbers to the
nearest whole number and tenths. I downloaded the video on a flash drive and studied it
thoroughly. When it was time for my discussion, I played the video on our classroom smart
TV. I noticed that the students were more attentive and engaged with the material
presented in the video. It helped me to clarify some of the confusing topics, and it even
helped to reinforce my own understanding of the lesson. During the quiz after the lesson, I
was pleasantly surprised to see that many of the students had answered the questions
correctly. It was evident that using technology to supplement my teaching had helped to
improve the students' understanding and had contributed to their academic success.

In conclusion, teaching a subject that you are not confident in can be a daunting
experience. However, by embracing modern technology and seeking out additional
resources, it is possible to provide a valuable and effective learning experience for
students. By using technology to supplement my teaching, I was able to improve the
students' understanding of the lesson and create a more engaging and interactive
classroom experience.
