INTRODUCTION

*The Internet is a vast network that connects computers all over the world. Through this,
people can share information and communicate from anywhere with an internet
connection. The Internet has been and continues to be rapidly developed in recent
decades so. It opened up a new world for people to explore and learn about anything
with just one click on their computers.

As of january 2021, there were total of 4.66 billion ( 59.5%) of the population. Active
internet users worldwide. People use the internet to do almost everything. One might
even argue that people today will not be able to live without the internet.

*In this time of pandemic, internet has become an essential part of human society. It
allowed people to do their task without going outside of their homes. One of those tasks
that people need to do is to go out and shop for their needs. The use of the internet is
so frequent that one might say that people are getting lazier.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) defined E-commerce as “the sale or
purchase of goods and services,over computer networks. The payment and the
ultimate delivery of the good or service may be conducted on or offline, DTI said in a
statement earlier this year.

*With the use of the internet, people now only have to scroll down into their phones to
find the products they need and, with just one click, they will be able to obtain the
items they ordered. In addition, according to United Nations Conference on Trade and
Development (UNCTAD, 2021), the e-commerce sector saw a significant increase in
total retail sales, increasing from 16 percent to 19 percent in 2020. Over the same
period, internet transactions in the UK increased from 15.8 percent to 23.3 percent; in
China (from 20.7 to 24.9 percent), the United States (from 11 to 14 percent), Australia
(from 6.3 to 9.4 percent), Singapore (from 5.9 to 11.7 percent), and Canada (from 3.6 to
6.2 percent).

*The philippine goverment has launched a plan to increase e-commerce adoption


among SMEs (Small and Medium-sized Enterprises). The goverment wants to raise the
contribution of online retail sales to GDP from 3.4% to 5.5% in 2022(GlobalData, 2021)
*The World Wide Web connects everything, wheter for business,social engagement, or
shopping . As people’s lifestyles have evolved, their methods of doing things have also
shifted from traditional to digital. Now,even their purchases are conducted
online(Bindia et al., 2021)

*Some customers still find online shopping risky and untrustworthy. According to
TransUnion’s Global Consumer Pulse Study, 44 percent of Filipino customers had been
victims of digital fraud in the last three months. “Results showed a significant increase in
attempted fraud from the Philippines againts telecommunication companies”

*The researchers studied the shopping behaviors and decisions of the students at
Christian Horizon School INC. When purchasing products online. The purpose of this
study is to provide, examine, and analyze the key factors that influence the shopping
behavior of the High School students in the area of online shopping.
