Location: Second Floor of Seven Eleven (7/11), Macanaya, Aparri, Cagayan

History:

As Filipinos, we are very fond of drinking coffee no matter what season or weather we

are in. The company name Cafe Pi was derived in the Ilocano term ‘kape tayu pay’ implying to

encourage everyone to have a cup of coffee. The symbol pi used as a substitute for the smoke of

the coffee symbolizes that, our hobby of drinking coffee remains constant or unchangeable

regardless of any season, time and place we go. It is innate in every Filipino to drink coffee for

breakfast, and snacks. Students use coffee as a stimulation for the brain when reviewing to

prepare themselves for their incoming activities and examinations. Thus, we came to take

advantage of the popularity of coffee to start a company named CAFE PI which will be serving

different variety of coffee with bread and pastries as snacks.

Planning:

Cafe Pi is a service type of a business. It will be managed and operated by nine students.

It is a coffee shop that will be located at the second floor of seven eleven (7/11), Macanaya,

Aparri, Cagayan. It will be serving different variety of coffee such as black coffee, ice coffee,

macchiato, and other flavors but our main recipe is the ‘barako’. It will also be serving freshly

baked bread and pastries to pair it with your coffee. Cafe Pi is a coffee shop and review center at

the same time for students that will visit the shop. We plan to coordinate with Mr. Donut for our
bread and pastries since it is one of the best-selling pastries in Aparri, Cagayan. After a few years

of operation, if the business became popular with the customers around Aparri, we plan to make

a branch in Sta. Ana, Cagayan. We chose Sta. Ana since it is one of the best tourist-spot in the

province and we believe that it is a great place to start another business aside here from Aparri,

Cagayan.

We plan to use different social media platforms in promoting our business most

especially the application Facebook since almost all of us have an account on FB, this way it will

be easier for customers to discover our business. Aside from the use of social media platforms,

we will create plyers containing the description of the business' products, its sample menu and

the location.

The Business is open to all ages, most especially to students from elementary to college

since it is also a review center. Anyone can visit the shop whether it is for the coffee, a place to

relax, or even for reviewing, everyone is welcome to visit our shop.

Organizing:

To fully ensure that Cafe Pi will be managed and operated according to plan, the shop

should provide the following personnel with their duties and responsibilities:

Owner - Responsible in running the business to

ensure that it is being operated and

managed well

- In charge in evaluating the staffs/

employees every month and will be the one

to give their salaries.

Manager/ General Manager - Responsible for ensuring that the staffs are

fulfilling their duties and responsibilities

- It is the assistant of the owner in managing

the business properly.

- In charge in managing the business if the

owner is not around/ available

Financial Staff - This includes the cashier, and accountant.

They will be responsible in managing the

money of the business.

- The cashier is in charge in taking orders as

well as tallying the total number of orders a

day while the accountant will be


responsible in computing for the income

and expenses of the company daily,

monthly and annually to get the financial

status of business whether it is gaining or

losing.

Barista - Responsible in processing the coffee of

every customer ensuring the quality and

taste of the customers’ order.

Service Staffs - This includes the service crew, waiter/

waitress, janitor/janitress, and dishwasher.

- Service Crew will be in charge in taking the

customers order as well as greeting them

politely and passionately.

- Waitress/ waiter will be in charge in giving

the customers order on their respective

tables, they are also in charge in cleaning

every table after it is being used.

- Janitor/ janitress will be responsible in

maintaining the cleanliness of the shop

- Dishwasher will be in charge in washing


the used cups and plates

Supplier - The supplier of the shop will be Mr. Donut

that will be responsible in providing

different bread and pastries daily.

- They will not be under the command of the

owner or the of Cafe Pi since they have

their own boss on their respective

company/business. They are only

responsible in assuring that our orders are

delivered in good condition.

Staffing:

The owners of the shop will work together to hire the needed employees and staff for the

business.

 Princess Benigno and Karylle Dyan Pascual will be in charge in making the job

description needed suitable for every position in the shop. They will also overseer the

hiring of every staff to ensure that they are fitted and suitable for the position.

 Sheena Marie Pascua and Fairy Joy Nolasco will serve as the Human Resource of the

business. They will be responsible in the screening, and interviewing the job seekers to

ensure that staffs are qualified for the job they are applying.

 Oneil Ribiacos and Jovito Andres will be responsible in training the newly hired staffs

such as barista, waiter/ waitress, service crew and other staff to make sure that they will

do their jobs accordingly.

 John Paul Siriban and Angel Jay Reynon will be in charge in cooperating with the

supplier (Mr. Donut). They will be the one to coordinate with Mr. Donut, from ordering

the needed bread and pastries daily to the checking of orders, to make sure that the orders

are correct and in good condition.

 Christian Paul Macaleng will be responsible in evaluating the staffs every month

according to their performance. He will also coordinate with the other owners in

evaluating the staffs so that all of them are working properly and deserving of their
salaries/ wage. If ever that one of the staffs neglected his/her job during working hour,

Christian will deal with her/ his appropriately to ensure that it will not happen again.

Achieving:

The business aims to become one of the best existing coffee shop and review center in

the municipality of Aparri giving and providing the best tasting coffee as well as an

accommodating staffs, and a relaxing ambiance to ensure that every customer will enjoy their

stay at the shop. The business also wants to achieve its expansion through increasing the number

of its branch in Aparri as well as other municipality such as Sta. Ana within two years of

operation. Also, the shop will be a stationary hangout for college students. It’ll be the coffee

shop to have some entertainment nights to increase sales, and appeal to a more artistic crowd.

Cafe Pi will implement accessible pricing, high-quality coffee, and create an environment that

helps people to feel comfortable.

Controlling:

Cafe Pi will assign one of the owners to take charge in evaluating and commanding the

employees to make sure that everything is in order. He/ She will make sure that every staff are

following their schedule and doing their respective jobs properly. On the other hand, the

remaining owners will overseer the flow of the business. They will make sure that the quality of

their products is in its best as well as the bread and pastries. Every week, they will have a
meeting regarding the progress of the shop to evaluate the strength and weakness of the business.

This will serve as an evaluation not only to the business but also to their performance as an

owner of the shop, to provide a friendly, relaxing, and comfortable place to its every customer as

well as the quality of coffee.

Decision Making:

There are many businesses opportunities arising from the different corners of Aparri such

as clothing line business, milk tea shop, academic commission, water refilling station and other

businesses, but we chose coffee shop as a business. Filipinos are very fond of drinking coffee; it

is an unchangeable and constant hobby no matter what weather or time it is. Coffee with bread as

its partner serves as a breakfast for older people and sometimes it becomes their snacks. This

hobby is becoming a culture that almost all of us are doing this in our every day lives, it also

serves as one of the stimuli for students most especially when they are reviewing for their

upcoming examinations or activities. We took advantage of this hobby to create our very own

business with a company name Cafe Pi. We believe that this business will be popular among all

ages since the hobby of drinking coffee remains and it is being pass to the next generation as one

of the Filipino cultures. We choose to cooperate with Mr. Donut as the company’s supplier of

bread and pastries since it is one of the best-selling breads in the municipality of Aparri and we

hope that by cooperating with Mr. Donut, both businesses will improve and be popular among

the mass.
Directing:

Every month, Cafe Pi will choose the best employee/ staff based on their performance

and the chosen employee/staff will receive a cash compensation. This activity every month will

encourage and motivate other employees to do their best for the following month so that every

staff will do their job passionately. All owners will be involved in choosing the best employee/

staff of the month with the help of their own employees. Each employee will nominate someone

basing from what they observed in his/her performance, and the owners will evaluate all the

nominees to choose among them, who will become the best employee of the month. By doing

this kind of Contest inside the business, it will motivate everyone to do their jobs and to improve

their performance. Improving the employees' performance will also improve the business,

because the employees/staffs are the heart and core of the business. Without the employees, the

business will cease to exist.

Mission:

Cafe Pi shall ensure to satisfy every customer with the quality products - the taste, as well

as the packaging and the pricing. It aims to provide a friendly, and comfortable environment

wherein everyone can socialize with each other, review for their upcoming examinations, and

enjoy the view as they take a sip of their coffee.

Vision:
Cafe pi aspires to be one of the best coffee shops that serves different variety of coffee

with its unique taste as well as its Instagramable ambiance in Cagayan Province that will

accommodate every customer with care and passion.

Goals:

 The company aims to produce a friendly, relaxing, and pleasant environment to ensure

that every customer will be at ease while enjoying their coffees.

 It aims to produce different variety of coffee with its unique taste that will last longer

than any other coffee in the municipality of Aparri.

 It aims to provide an environment suitable for the students in reviewing for their

upcoming examinations and to any other customers.

Objectives:

 To attract coffee lovers especially teenagers who likes spending their time in drinking

coffee.

 To be one of the places where students, workers, other customers go when they want to

unwind and relax.

 To improve the fondness of everyone in drinking coffee.


 To establish Café Pi as the most recognized coffee shop in Cagayan Province.
