1. What
role does gender socialization play in the perception of gender roles?
 Nowadays, most gender differences are thought to be due to variations in socialization
rather than hereditary or biological causes. Gender stereotypes can develop as a result
of gender socialization: girls and boys are trained from birth to perform in specific ways.
2.  What are some examples of gender stereotypes and how do they affect the genders?

 "Girls should play with dolls and boys should play with trucks" which not all girls like
dolls and not all boys like trucks. Just let them play what they want or enjoy
 "Boys should not wear dresses or other clothes typically associated with "girl's clothes".
Boys can wear what they want what type of clothes they like.
 "There is something wrong with a woman who doesn’t want children." Not all women
like to have a child or have a commitment to raise a child and it's a hard role or to do.
 "Men who are not aggressive and/or assertive are unmanly and likely gay" Not all men
can be aggressive and strong, they are humans so they can feel weak too.
 "Same-sex couples cannot make good parents" It's not about the genders of parents it’s
how they bond with good intentions in their children.
 Gender stereotypes affect the gender of a human is making their confidence low or
becoming to lack self-confidence and depression or being sad because of trying to be
one of them or have the qualities of gender stereotypes.

3.  What is SOGIE and how it is relevant to the Philippine society?

 It is intended to prevent various economic and public accommodation-related acts of


discrimination against people based on their sexual orientation, gender identity or
expression.
