Gender based stereotypes

It is 21st century and human society still has the same burning issue to discuss. Gender
stereotypes. The thing is that our society has a set of ideas about how we expect men and
women to dress, behave, and present themselves. To some extent it is widely accepted
judgment about others. Generalization about men and women is nothing else but bias attitude.
Stereotypes also can induce faulty assessments of people and it may not correspond to a
person’s unique qualities. A gender stereotype has adverse effects when it limits women’s
and men’s uniqueness or capability to develop their individual skills. Gender
stereotyping refers to the practice of ascribing to an individual woman or man specific
attributes, characteristics, or roles by reason only of her or his membership in the social group
of women or men. Wrongful gender stereotyping is a frequent cause of discrimination. It can
influence feelings of others. We have to overcome gender-based stereotypes. One of the most
important aspects of overcoming gender roles is education. Children are sensitive to ideas
such as stereotypes, so it’s crucial to make them understand, through teaching and playing,
that women and men are equal.
