RedTail Bowling Competes at KoHawk Invite

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA–The RedTail Women’s bowling team competed at the KoHawk Invite on
February 4-5, 2023.

Madison Shontz led the way for the RedTails, knocking down 917 pins for an average of 183
over five games. Shontz finished in 37th place out of 150 competitors. Brianna Ross came in
41st place, totaling 901 pins over the weekend. Lauren Funk scored 817 pins for a 163 pin
average, finishing in 71st place.

“Individually, we had a couple standouts in Madison Shontz and Brianna Ross. These two really
shined on Saturday, despite each of them having one bad game, they still performed awesome
with their shot making and spares,” said head coach Roger Taylor.

The RedTails knocked down 6603 pins finishing in 15th place as a team.

“The women started the event on Saturday with one of their most consistent showing to date,
with all of their team game totals within the 800 range. For Saturday, there was some good
energy and I believe that helped them focus and rebound from the bad shots,” said Taylor.
“Between the two days, the women did see some movement within the standings, being as high
as 11th at one point, ahead of in-state rivals such as Iowa Central and proved that they can hang
with them. Unfortunately they ran out of steam towards the end of Sunday and finished in 15th.”

The RedTails will compete at home on February 11-12, 2023 for their next competition.
