To vent an MSD distributor cap, find the midpoint between the bottom and top of the cap, excluding the plug wire poles. Drill a 1/4" hole at this point, then drill a second hole 180 degrees around the cap. Two holes are usually sufficient to allow fresh air in through the cap and minimize moisture, but two additional holes can be drilled at 90 degree positions if needed.

other cap for that matter, what you want to do is mentally find or position the mid-way point between the bottom of the cap where is sits on the base of the distributor and the ‘crown’ of the cap. This is the point of the cap, not including the plug wire poles, where the cap begins to curve at the top. Once you find this mid-point, drill a 1/4” hole.
Once the first hole is drilled, move around the
cap 180 degrees and drill another 1/4” hole.
Usually, these are sufficient enough to use
the action of the rotor to draw fresh air through the cap, keeping moisture to a minimum.
If the two holes are not enough, drill two more
holes 90 degrees from the first two holes. If you drill 4 holes they would end up at being at clock positions 12, 3, 6, 9, if the cap were oriented that way.
