Mounting Fish bone in Resin

Materials Needed:

Fish bone: The fish bone you want to mount should be cleaned and dried thoroughly before use.

Resin: There are different types of resin available, such as epoxy resin, polyester resin, and
polyurethane resin. Choose the one that suits your needs and follow the manufacturer's
instructions for mixing and curing.

Mold: You will need a mold to pour the resin into. You can use silicone molds or create your own
mold using cardboard or plastic.

Release agent: To prevent the resin from sticking to the mold, you can use a release agent such
as petroleum jelly or silicone spray.

Mixing cups and stir sticks: You will need these to mix the resin and hardener.

Gloves: Wear gloves to protect your hands from the resin.

Safety equipment: Depending on the type of resin you use, you may need safety equipment such
as goggles and a respirator.

Optional: Pigment, glitter, or other decorative elements can be added to the resin for a unique
look

Steps

Clean and dry the fish bone: Before starting the resin process, make sure that the fish bone is
thoroughly cleaned and dried. You can use tweezers to remove any remaining flesh or debris.

Prepare the mold: Choose a mold that is slightly larger than the fish bone you want to mount.
Apply a release agent to the mold to prevent the resin from sticking.

Mix the resin: Follow the manufacturer's instructions for mixing the resin and hardener. Make
sure to mix thoroughly to avoid any air bubbles in the resin.

Pour the resin into the mold: Slowly pour the resin into the mold, making sure that it covers the
bottom of the mold.

Place the fish bone: Place the fish bone carefully into the mold on top of the resin. Make sure it
is centered and level.

Add more resin: Pour more resin into the mold, making sure to cover the fish bone completely. If
necessary, use a stir stick to move the resin around to ensure it is evenly distributed.

Decorate (optional): If desired, you can add pigment, glitter, or other decorative elements to the
resin.
Cure the resin: Follow the manufacturer's instructions for curing the resin. Depending on the
type of resin used, this may involve leaving it to cure at room temperature or placing it in a
heated curing chamber.

Remove from mold: Once the resin has cured, carefully remove the fish bone from the mold. If
necessary, use a sharp knife or scissors to trim away any excess resin.

Finish: You can polish the resin with a polishing cloth or add a layer of clear coat for added
protection and shine
