INDUCTION PROGRAMME
The objective of the programme is to make the student feel comfortable in their
new environment, open them up, set a healthy daily routine, create bonding with
the batch mates, faculties and seniors, develop coordination with batch mates,
reducing competition and making work for excellence.

All first semester students gathered at 10:30 AM in the seminar hall and were
wholeheartedly welcomed by Shaista Parvez khan and Astha Singh.
The programme was inaugurated by lamp lighting done by Professors followed by
inauguration speech which was delivered by Dr. K. R. Hari. He explained about
importance of programs and gave a detailed information about Geology
department and the University

A motivational speech was delivered by Dr. N. Bodhankar about student life and
importance of punctuality, sincerity and discipline in day to day life.

Guest lecturers Dr. Jyoti Chandrawanshi, Mrs. Rashmi Gupta and Miss. Nivedita
Sharma introduced themselves and shared their life experience.

A Power point presentation was delivered by Sandeep Patre highlighting the


journey of the department from the establishment day to present day.

After that, the students of final year introduced themselves and shared their one
year experience in the department. The newly joined students of M Sc first
semester also introduced themselves and narrated about their aspirations, family
expectations, gratitude, self-body, prosperity etc.

After the interaction programme some games has been arranged were students of
first semester were divided into four groups and each groups were provided with
four different contour maps of which they had to make a 3D structure with taking
into consideration dip value, dip direction and bed thickness. This was followed by
musical chair competition.

On the second day, a life lesson speech was delivered by Dr. M.W.Y. Khan, an
eminent ex- faculty member of our department. He addressed about simple living
and high thinking. Non teaching staff also had an interaction with students.
Literary Activity/ Creative arts, Culture -

In the second session various activities were arranged according to the skills and
interest of students viz. poetry, music, painting and dance competition .
LECTURE OF PROFESSOR J.GREGORY SHELLNUT
J.GREGORY SHELLNUT Professor of National Taiwan Normal University,
Taiwan visited department of GEOLOGY &WRM and interacted with students of
MSc previous and final year, shared his experience, about his research and also
motivated the students in the field of earth science. He talked about the recent
researches going on in the field of igneous petrology.

After his interaction with the students Astha Singh officially thanked his for
visiting our department and also for interaction with the students.
LECTURE OF DR. YOGESH PANDEY
ALL the students were gathered in the seminar hall and are welcomed by Akriti
panchbudhe. After that Dr K.R.HARI introduced Dr. Yogesh Pandey, Deputy
Director of GSI and Mr. Ramesh Jalem Geologist in GSI to the students.

Dr. Yogesh Pandey introduced about the GSI, works in GSI, their missions and
also about BHUMI SAMWAD . He also invited the students to take part in
BHUMI SAMWAD.

After that a vote of thanks was delivered by Shaista Parvez Khan.


LECTURE OF DR. BENIDHAR DESHMUKH
The one week lecture programme was organised for the students in the seminar
hall.

DR. K. R. HARI introduced Dr. Benidhar Deshmukh Associate Professor in


Geology, School of Science, IGNOU, New Delhi.

Dr. Deshmukh shared his research experience and introduced the students to the
world of GIS and remote sensing. His lecture series were for a week covering a lot
of topics in geomorphology, remote sensing and GIS

NATIONAL YOUTH DAY CELEBRATION


On 11 January 2020 a memorable youth day was organized by SOS GEOLOGY
and WRM. This event was about 2 hours long and was held in departmental
classroom. We celebrated this event in memory of Swami Vivekanand.

The event was commenced by arrival of Professors, guest lecturers and


students of both year. The programme was compared by Aishwarya. The
welcome was followed by Chhattisgarh state song arpa pairi ke dhar. It was
followed by speech given by Dr. K. R. Hari and Dr. N. Bodhankar. It was truly
inspirational speech.

The speech is followed by various programmes presented by student, there was


poetry by Lekhnarayan on leenage and Udaynarayan Patel on the importance of
life lessons.
Singing by Parakh Sahu, Kiran Jaiswal. Speech by five students Umesh
Chandra mahanta, Raveena Topo, Tushar Naik, Ankit Hota, Tushar Verma.
The students delivered their speech about life of Swami Vivekanand and
their achievements and moral of human life. It was all followed by formal
vote of thanks and event conclusion.

REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION


All the students staff members and faculty members gathered in the department of
Geology and WRM AT 8:00AM and flag hosted.
