A Brief Report on 72nd Independence Day Celebrations

15th August, 2018

The 72nd Independence Day celebration was held at JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty on
15.08.2018. Next to the play of ‘Thamizh Thaai Vaazhthu’ (Anthem on the Tamil
language), Dr. S. P. Dhanabal, Principal, JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty hoisted the
Tricolour Flag in the courtyard of the college campus and rendered his salutations to the
National flag. With due respect, National Anthem was played by all, immediately after the
flag hoisting.

Earlier, the Principal was received with a parade by NSS volunteers from the
administrative block to the venue. During his chief-guest address, Dr. S.P. Dhanabal
recalled the sacrifices of the patriots and emphasized about the importance of freedom
and conveyed his greetings to all the staff and students.

The Vice-Principal Dr. Md. Afzal Azam, Dr. Arun KP, IQAC Coordinator,
Mr. Basavalaingadevaru HK, Administrative Officer (i/c.) were the others who addressed
the gathering on that auspicious occasion. Followed by, the following student
representatives have delivered their messages for the Independence Day in Tamil,
English and Hindi.

A choir with girls presented patriotic songs which was well accomplished the purpose of
the gathering.

The students from AIMST University who were available in the campus for the student
exchange program have also participated and enjoyed the celebrations.

Mr. B. Babu, NSS Coordinator proposed the vote of thanks to conclude the celebrations.
Mr.Shivaprasad.T.S, the physical education teacher along with the NSS student
coordinators, Mr. Soundarajan, Mr. Sudheeshwaran, Ms. Bhavatharini, Ms. Kavya have
made all the arrangements with the NSS volunteers for the colourful celebrations. Sweets
were distributed and the gathering dispersed.
