REPORT ON TRANSPORTATION OF RURAL COMMUNITY

RURAL COMMUNITY POSTING VISIT: -

Total 101, students were visited the rural area Alathuru village, PHC at Hosakote and
Anganwadi at Alathuru village with the supervision of, Dr.Nandaprakash , Dr. A. E.
Paramesha, Smt. Kamala .K, Smt . Rajeshwari.

The posting students were picked up from the Mysuru Medical College and dropped at the
community area in the college bus [MYSORE MEDICAL COLLEGE & RESEARCH
INSTITUTE] with driver Mr. Nagaraju and cleaner Mr.Santosh at alternative weeks from
20/01/2023 to 15/02/2023.

Out of 101 students, 98 students are from B.Sc. Nursing and 3 students are from 1st year
M.Sc. Nursing.

During first week of rural posting, we were oriented to PHC at Hosakote physical setup and
staff.

Under guidance of Dr. Purushotham administrative medical officer and Mr. J. M. Shridhar
senior health inspector, we were allotted to Alathuru village with co-operation of Smt. Padma
ASHA worker and local leaders house were numbered and allotted to student at the rate of 3
families. And visited the health exhibition which was conducted in Sutturu fair.
From second week to fourth week students were visited the allotted families, collected the
history of each member of the family and performed health examination and health education
was given to individual, family and community based upon their needs.

During the postings students were visited the Anganwadi and Govt school and PHC in the
rotation manner in each week.

On 7/02/2023, Eye camp was conducted at Govt school in Alathuru village by both BSc
Nursing and MSc Nursing students.

Throughout the postings, Domiciliary health services and Bag technique procedures were
done by the students and also provided health education in the community.

REPORT PRESENTATION ON HEALTH EDUCATION ORGANIZED BY
STUDENTS IN RURAL COMMUNITY AREA

INTRODUCTION:

We the 1st year M.Sc. Nursing and 4th year students GCON, MMC & RI, were posted to rural
community in order to gain knowledge by conducting survey of providing health education to
the community people.

As a part of our rural community health nursing practical posting, we visited the rural
community area Alathuru village, which belongs to hosakote PHC to provide health education
and preventive health services.

‘HEALTH EDUCATION’

Health education is a combination of learning experiences designed to help individual and


communities improve their health, by increasing their knowledge or influencing their
attitudes.

Values & Objectives:

Knowledge of health education assumes great importance in community

Health education is important for every one as its objective include:

 Prevention & cure disease


 knowledge of health
 knowledge of environment hygiene
 To promote physical & mental health & social well-being of the individual
 To enhance the family health care
 To enhance the nutritional knowledge

Conclusion: - Health education was given by our students to the people based on health and

EYE CAMP REPORT

We the 1st year M.Sc. Nursing along and 4th year students, Govt. College of
nursing MMC & RI were posted to rural community in order to gain knowledge
by conducting survey and providing health education to the community people.
As a part of our rural community health nursing practical postings, we
conducted a health camp regarding EYE HEALTH CHECKUP and EYE
DONATION AWARENESS programme on 07-FEB-2023 at primary school,
Alathuru village, Hosakote. Under the guidance of our lecturers, department of
community health nursing.
For this Eye camp programme, Mr. Nanjundaswamy president (Donors) Alattur
village, Hoskote was presided over the function.
Inauguration of this programme was done by Dr K.R Dakshayani, Dean and
Director of MMC & RI, Mysuru.

The chief guests were invited; those were,

& RI, Mysuru.
❖ Dr MK Chetan Kumar, Senior surgeon, District mobile ophthalmology
unit, KR hospital, MMC & RI, Mysuru.

And the inauguration of this programme was done by Dr K.R Dakshayani dean
& Director MMC & RI, Mysuru.
Introductory speech was given by Dr A.E Paramesh, lecturer, GCON, MMC &
RI, Mysuru.

The president’s speech was given by Mr. Nanjundaswamy, Donor, Alattur


village, Hoskote. & Dr K.R Dakshayani dean & Director MMC & RI, Mysuru.

★ Light refreshments were distributed at the end of the programme.

The people of Alathuru village were invited for Eye Health camp by the 1st year
M.Sc. Nursing and 4th year B.Bsc. Nursing students of GCON, MMC & RI,
MYSURU.

Report on participation in Health exhibition

As a part of rural community health practical posting, we visited the educational


science exhibition & fair arranged at Sutturu village belonging to the Hosakote
PHC.

Health Exhibition

Health exhibition was organized by JSS Group of health institution


including medical, nursing, physiotherapy, pharmacy & dental colleges. The
event was organized to encourage a scientific & educational temper among rural
people.

Our batch students observed & gained information about the exhibits displayed
in the exhibition. They were as follows

o Human anatomy related models & specimens such as


 Cadavers
 Lungs (healthy & affected)
 Cancerous tumours
 Human bones
 Human cell related models

o Nutrition related exhibits such as

 Food pyramids
 Therapeutic diets
 Models depicted nutritional requirement during pregnancy,
important nutrition during breast feeding, weaning etc
 Models depicted a nutrition plate which sensitizes the public about
the right proportion of macro nutrients and micro nutrients to be
consumed
 Assessment of body mass index (BMI)
o Communicable diseases related role play
 Covid -19 related models & charts
 Dengue, tuberculosis, HIV AIDS related charts & models
 Educated about treatment & preventive measures
o Non communicable diseases related exhibits such as
 Cancer related models & charts including importance of nutrition
in prevention of cancer screening camp was held
 Cardio vascular diseases related models & charts
 Diabetes related models & charts

o OBG related exhibits such as

 Breast lumps & breast cancer related models & charts


 Fertilization, implantation & foetal development related models
 Uterus models
o Medical surgical nursing related exhibits such as
 Head injury related charts & models
 Fracture related charts & models such as models of types of
fracture
 First aid treatment for fracture
o Environmental sanitation related models such as
 Rain water harvesting models

 Health & cleanliness models
 Activated sludge process for environmental sanitation models
o Exhibits of poison informative centre
 The publics were educated on safe use of medicine
 Safety precautions to be taken on using medicine in elderly
population
 How to safely store medications away from reach of children
 The farmers were educated about safe use of pesticides

o Industrial expo

The industrial expo featuring a display and sale of a variety of industrial


products, Handloom products, Textiles, Handcraft products, Rural make
products, articles made by self-help groups and women groups, Home and
cottage industries etc ., are on display . This expo also features science models
made by high school students.
o KRISHIMELA

The mela features display of home grown & foreign soil grown vegetable,
demonstration on millets, use & functioning of drone in the Agri sector & other
advancements in the field of agriculture.
SUTTURU FAIR

AADI JAGADURU SHRI SHIVARATHRIEESHWARA SHIVAYOGI

Suttur fair is popular in the Mysore district. Aadi Jagadguru shri Shivarathri
Eshwara shivayogigala jathra Mahotsav, popularly known as Suttur Jathra
Mahotsav is organized every year for the duration of six days. It was held from
January 18 to 23, 2023 at suttur srikshetra in Nanjangudu taluk.

Various pontiffs, political leaders, social workers, donors, researchers, students


& people from all walks of life participated in the jathra mahotsava. On average
2 lakh people assembles every day, consumes food & participated in the socio-
cultural activities.

Our batch students visited on 21th and 23th january and observed various events
at jathra mahotsava.
Since there are potential health problems associated with large gatherings, our
students got an opportunity to observe & understand preventive measures to
protect the health of visitors such as,

 Hygiene cooking & serving of the food


 Rising temporary shelters & toilet facilities
 Controlling of dust & garbage by periodical cleaning
 Setting up of first aid clinics & mobile hospitals
 Health camps
REPORT ON DOMICILLARY HEALTH SERVICES PROVIDED BY
STUDENTS IN RURAL COMMUNITY

INTRODUCTION:

We the M.Sc. Nursing. students, Government college of nursing, MMC &RI,


were posted to rural community in order to gain knowledge by conducting home
visits and providing domiciliary health care services to community people.

As a part of our rural community health nursing practical postings, we visited


the homes and provided the domiciliary health care services.

VALUES OF DOMICILLARY HEALTH CARE SERVICES:

• It is provided to a family in their home, to maintain restore or promote their


physical, mental and emotional health.

• Helps in identification of primary functional impairment

• It involves the treatment of minor illnesses.


During community posting, students were allotted to specific number of houses
and provided health services like vitals checking, weight checking, height
checking, BMI calculation etc., identify the problems and provided health
education according to the problems. Also presented the family profile
presentation to the respective allotted lectures.
By doing all these, we have gained knowledge and skills to identify the
problems in the community.

Health education topics in rural community presented by students:

• Prevention of worm infestation.

• Prevention of malnutrition.

• Prevention of anemia.
