Exp. # 3

Name of Exp / full wave rectifation

Student Name: Ameer Wael Talat Elfarra

Student No.: 120217022

Supervisor :

Eng. Yousef Al-Mutayeb

Date of Exp.

Experiment No.
full Wave rectifation

Objective:
To calculate and draw the DC output voltages of full- wave rectifiers.

Without smoothing capacitor and with smoothing capacitor.

.Apparatus:

❖ Function Generator

❖ Function Generator Oscilloscope.

❖ Diode: Silicon D1N4007 .

❖ Resistors .

Theory:

The process of converting the AC current into DC current is

called rectification. Rectification can be achieved by using a
single diode or group of diodes. These diodes which convert the
AC current into DC current are called rectifiers. Rectifiers are
generally classified into two types: half wave rectifier and full
wave rectifier. A full wave rectifier is a type of rectifier which
converts both half cycles of the AC signal into pulsating DC
signal.
The full wave rectifier is further classified into two types:
center tapped full wave rectifier and full wave bridge rectifier.
circuit diagram :
The Full Wave Bridge Rectifier :
Procedure:

1. Make the Connections as shown in the circuit diagram.

2. Switch on the Supply.
3. Observe the input and output waveforms of the rectifier and
note down the output DC and AC voltages (Vdc and Vac).
4. Observe the Voltage across the secondary of the Transformer
(i.e Vrms). Calculate the ripple factor, efficiency and percentage
regulation at the output.
Result:

Vrms ‫ =نظري‬6V Vrms ‫عملي‬ = 7.21V

Vp = 2 * Vrms = 7.21 * 1.414 = 10.196 V

Vout‫ = نظري‬10.196 -1.4 = 8.59 V Vout ‫ = عملي‬1.7*5 = 8.5 V

𝟐 ∗ 𝟖.𝟓𝟗 Vavg ‫ = عملي‬5.16 V

Vavg‫= نظري‬ = 5.47 𝑉

Comment :

When connecting the bridge circuit, the upper and

left ends are connected with the negative and
positive converter ends, and the other ends are
connected to the negative and positive sides of the
oscilloscope with resistance to watch the output
wave
