Over the last 12 months, there have been several developments and changes at Clonard. We
are aware that some changes which have been implemented may seem to contradict the
Teacher Manuals that you have. Unfortunately, at the time of printing the need for the changes
was not imminent. We can assure you however that these important documents will be
updated for the following year.
Clonard has launched an online platform (Clonard Online, sometimes referred to as LMS
which stands for ‘Learner Management System’). It presents an efficient option for the delivery
of assessments, teacher feedback, marked assessments, reports, and certificates of
achievement. It also keeps all the above in one place, on each student’s profile. All 2022
Foundation Phase students would have received login detail at the time of enrollment. Every
Foundation Phase student has a profile.
Clonard Online was used for Foundation Phase Year-End Assessments last year, with great
success. The site housing student profiles will be used again this year, and ins stages will
include learning material/guidance for the students.
Throughout 2022 so far, Foundation Phase students have had access to ‘Fun Event’ which has
included activities centered around special days of observance. These activities are not
mandatory. Our encouragement to use them hoped to open the use of the student profiles and
familiarize yourself with the platform.
With importance, please note that as of July 2022, you will be receiving information and
direction regarding 2022 Foundation Year-End Assessments. With this in mind, it is necessary
for you to log in to your student’s profile within a short time after receiving notification of any
additions to the profile. Keeping up to date on your end is crucial to the smooth delivery and
administration of the assessments and anything else related to the Foundation Phase.
Please see below the routine for the 2022 Gr R – 3 End of Year Assessments:
• Year-End Assessments include:
1 x Mathematics Assessment
1 x English Assessment
1 x Handwriting Assessment
Grade 1: Print and
Grade 2: Print and Pre-cursive
Grade 3: Print, Pre-cursive, and Cursive
• You would have already received a username and a password which must be used to
log into the platform. If you need a reset or need this to be resent to you, please email
online@clonard.co.za. Please include your student’s full name and grade in this
correspondence.
• Assessments must be downloaded from your student’s profile and printed. All
assessments must be completed in the student’s handwriting. You will need to ensure
you have access to a good-quality printer, either in your home or somewhere close by.
• Assessments will be available for download within a time frame. During this time, you
are expected to download and administer the assessments accordingly. There will be a
date by which all assessments must be completed.
6 Kingston Road (off Umhlanga Rocks Drive), Durban North, DURBAN, 4051
You will receive a commitment form, at the end of September, which requires you to
select one of the three options for Year-End Assessments.
• The Year-End Assessments must be accompanied by the following continuous records
that are being added to each week/month:
o Parent Assessment
o Daily Record Book (completed in full)
NOTE: The Daily Record Book provides insight into your student’s year. The
information added to this document should reflect the progress, successes, and
struggles your student had during the year. The marking teacher will use this
information, with the Year-End Assessment responses to write a report.
• Foundation Phase Report: This report is written by the marking teacher. It is based
solely on the observations of the student’s response to the Year-End Assessments and
the information shared in the Daily Record Book and on the ‘Parent Assessment’. Our
marking teacher has years of experience in the Foundation Phase and comfortably
examines the student’s assessments and record books.
