1. Popeye needs to remove some dirt from Olive’s car windshield, as shown in the figure.
He has two options: (a) to use a hose and partially close its output with his finger, or (b) to
buy a pressure washer and point it towards the windshield. Which one is the best option
for cleaning the windshield? You must estimate the force exerted on the windshield by
both options. Provide all the information related to the equipment considered for your
calculation (datasheets, technical standards, pictures, etc.).

2. Consider a Vestas V90-3MW wind turbine with a 90 m rotor diameter. If the wind blows at
12 m/s in the direction of the rotor blades, estimate: (a) the efficiency of the wind turbine,
(b) the reactions at the base of the mast. What is the maximum efficiency any wind turbine
can reach? Include all your assumptions, the control volume selected, and the free body
diagram (FBD). Attached to the assignment you can find the wind turbine datasheet.
