1.

Is oral tradition important in the history and culture of the

Filipinos?

For me, I think yes. Every tradition is important, make it oral or the one
that we are celebrating like fiesta. This is something adults frequently tell
children to help them open their minds, to pass knowledge across
generations. It is important in our culture because it serves different
lessons for us like the proverbs. It also serves as pastime like the riddle. I
remember when I was young, my aunt always used to call me and my
cousins to play guess the riddle. It's a tradition since it's what we're used
to and familiar with. We can't just put it behind us and forget about it.
We are aware of its value that is why we cherished it.

2. What do you think is the greatest contribution of these oral lore in

the making of our unique identity?

It helps us become who we are today. We may not be conscious of it, but
it is one of the factors that has shaped who we are and where we are in
the present. These lore helps us makes sense to the world and I think,
that make us unique.

3. As a student, how important for you to know the literary works from
the past?

As a student, it helps me to know about our history. It helps me

understand the culture and gather information in the past. Without the
literary works from the past, we will not know any life before us. Because
of these literatures, we learn to appreciate and figure out the truth.

4. Does the message of the orally transferred lit from generation to

another still applies in 21st century set up? How? Explain.

Yes, it still applies. Like I said, we made aware of its value that is why we
cherished it. It may not be intended, but we continue to pass it to other
generation because we are aware how much it will affect every
individual’s development. Its message is imprinted in our being that we
tend to pass it without us knowing. Our family engraved it in our heart,
that is why up until now, new generation still know it.
