Radio and CD Changer Removal


Factory Radio:
FIGURE 2
1. Eject cassette or CD(s) from factory unit if
present.

2. Set parking brake and disconnect negative


battery cable to prevent any electrical
short. Factory Radio/Pocket Assembly

3. Move gear shift into lowest position. Lower Trimpanel

4. Remove ashtray. Pry around all edges of


lower trimpanel to release six (6)
plastic clips. Disconnect wiring harnesses
and remove trimpanel (Figure 1).

5. Remove four (4) phillips screws securing

factory radio/pocket assembly. Pull out
assembly, disconnect and remove (Figure 2).

Factory Changer:
Note: The factory changer will not work
with an aftermarket receiver. A pocket
(supplied with your order) will fill the space Factory CD Changer
left by changer removal.

1. Pry around all edges of upper trimpanel to


release eight (8) retaining clips. Pull off
trimpanel, disconnect electrical harnesses
and remove trimpanel (Figure 3). Upper Trimpanel

disconnect and remove (Figure 4).  Return gear shift to park position.

Radio Removal (if not factory-equipped with separate CD Changer)


1. Eject disc(s) from factory unit if present.

2. Set parking brake and disconnect negative battery cable to prevent any electrical short.

3. Pry around all edges of receiver trimpanel to release six (6) plastic clips. Disconnect wiring harnesses and remove receiver trimpanel (Figure 1).

4. Remove four (4) phillips screws securing factory radio. Pull out radio, disconnect and remove (Figure 2).

Receiver Installation (factory-equipped with CD changer) adaptor plugs into the vehicle receiver harness.
If the Crutchfield adaptor is incorrect, please call our

1. Make wiring connections following instructions supplied with the


receiver wiring adaptor.

2. Remove four (4) phillips screws securing factory radio to side brackets
(two screws on each side of radio - Figure 1).

3. Remove DIN sleeve and trim ring from new receiver (Figure 2).
Note: The sleeve and trim ring will not be used in this application.

4. Place new receiver inside factory side brackets. Align mounting holes
on replacement receiver with holes in factory side brackets (Figure 3).
Secure receiver in the same manner as factory radio using screws
supplied with new receiver.

5. Connect receiver wiring adaptor to vehicle harness and plug antenna


lead into rear of receiver. Secure receiver assembly to dash with screws
previously removed.

6. Remove four (4) phillips screws (two on each side) securing factory side
brackets to CD changer. Secure brackets to side of replacement
pocket in the same manner. Insert pocket into upper dash space and
secure with screws that secured factory changer.

7. Test receiver operation and reassemble dash
by reversing removal steps.

Receiver Installation (vehicle not factory-equipped with CD changer) adaptor plugs into the vehicle receiver harness.
If the Crutchfield adaptor is incorrect, please call our
Technical Support Department at 1-800-955-9094.

1. Make wiring connections following instructions supplied with the receiver wiring
adaptor.

2. Remove four (4) phillips screws securing factory radio to side brackets (two screws
on each side of radio - Figure 1).

3. Remove DIN sleeve and trim ring from new receiver (Figure 2). Note: Sleeve and
trim ring will not be used in this application.

4. Place new receiver inside factory side brackets. Align mounting holes on
replacement receiver with holes in factory side brackets (Figure 3). Secure receiver
in the same manner as factory radio using screws supplied with new receiver.

5. Connect receiver wiring adaptor to vehicle harness and plug antenna lead into rear
of receiver. Secure receiver assembly to dash with screws previously removed.

6. Test receiver operation and reassemble dash by reversing removal steps.

with adaptor brackets only. Cutting or fabrication (not
shown) will be required for other speaker sizes.

1. Pry off “sail” panel from top edge to release


one (1) plastic retaining clip and remove
“sail” panel (Figure 1). FIGURE 1 FIGURE 2
2. Remove one (1) phillips screw in center of
door release trim. Pull trim toward front of
door. Pull out trim and allow to hang
(Figure 2).

3. Pry up armrest pad to release four (4) metal


clips and remove (Figure 3). Note: Armrest
is tightly secured.

4. Remove two (2) phillips screws exposed by
armrest removal (Figure 4).

Front Door Speakers (continued)


5. Remove one (1) plastic phillips clip from FIGURE 5
rear edge of door panel by turning counter-
clockwise 1/4 turn, then prying out clip
(Figure 5).

6. Pry around sides and bottom of door panel


to release seven (7) plastic retaining clips.
Lift door panel, work door release assembly
through opening and remove door panel
(Figure 6). FIGURE 6

7. Use a drill and 1/8” bit to drill out rivets


securing factory speaker to door. Pull out Speed Clips (supplied with brackets)
speaker, disconnect and remove (Figure 7).

brackets (Figure 8).

9. Connect speaker wiring adaptor of


replacement speaker to vehicle speaker
harness. Secure speaker to bracket using
screws supplied with speakers (Figure 8).

10. Test speaker operation and reinstall door

1. Pry off child seat belt anchor covers (3). Remove one (1) 12mm bolt from
each anchor and remove anchors (Figure 1).

2. Pry out two (2) retaining clips from front edge of rear deck panel
(Figure 2).

3. Push front edge of brake light assembly toward rear window to release
two (2) clips. Lift assembly, disconnect wiring harness and remove
(Figures 3 & 4).

4. Lift center of rear deck panel and work ends of panel
out from pillars to remove. Remove seat belts from slots
and remove rear deck panel (Figures 5 & 6).

5. Remove four (4) phillips screws from speaker. Pull out
speaker, disconnect and remove (Figure 7).

6. Connect speaker wiring adaptor of replacement speaker


to vehicle speaker harness. Secure speaker with
screws previously removed.

7. Test speaker operation and reassemble by reversing

Wire Splicing Guide These methods can be used to make wiring connections if no receiver or speaker wiring adaptor is available.
Wire color information (if available) can be found on the next page.
