DEFINITION OF ANALYTICAL EXPOSITION TEXT (pengertian) :

Analytical exposition is a type of text that will explain in detail the writer's opinion on a
phenomenon or issue that occurs without intending to influence the reader to agree or do
something.

rinci pendapat penulis terhadap fenomena atau isu yang terjadi tanpa bermaksud
mempengaruhi pembaca untuk setuju atau melakukan sesuatu.)

PURPOSE OF ANALYTICAL EXPOSITION TEXT (tujuan) :

Convince the reader that the topic presented is an important topic to be discussed or to get
attention by providing arguments or opinions that support the main idea or topic.
Terjemahan: (Meyakinkan pembaca bahwa topik yang dihadirkan adalah topik yang penting
untuk dibahas atau mendapat perhatian dengan cara pemberian argumen atau pendapat yang
mendukung ide pokok atau topik tersebut.)

GENERIC STRUCTURE OF ANALYTICAL EXPOSITION TEXT (struktur) :

1) Thesis
Introducing the topic and indicating the writer’s point of view.
(Memperkenalkan topik dan menunjukkan sudut pandang penulis)
2) Argument
Explaining the argument to support the writer’s position. The number of arguments may vary,
but each argument must be supported by evidence and explanation.
(Menjelaskan argumen untuk mendukung posisi penulis. Jumlah argumen mungkin berbeda,
tetapi setiap argumen harus didukung oleh bukti-bukti dan penjelasan.)
3) Reiteration
Restating the writer’s point of view/to strengthen the thesis.
(Menyatakan kembali sudut pandang penulis/untuk memperkuat tesis)

LANGUAGE FEATURES OF ANALYTICAL EXPOSITION TEXT :

1. Using simple present tense
2. Using words that express thoughts or feelings. Such as experience, feel, know, realize,
sense, think, etc.
(Menggunakan kata-kata yang mengekspresikan pikiran atau perasaan)
3. Using time conjuction. Such as Then, Firstly, Secondly, Next, etc.
4. Using causal conjunction, conjunctions expressing cause and effect. Such as because,
consequently, despite, due to, for that reason, etc.
(kata penghubung yang menyatakan hubungan sebab dan akibat)
5. Using comparisons conjuction. Such as Meanwhile, vice versa, but, etc.
(kata perbandingan)
6. Using addition conjuction. Such as Besides, in addition, further, however, etc.
(kata penambahan)

The Importance of Reading
I personally think that reading is an important activity in our life. Why do I say so?
Firstly, by reading we can get a lot of information about many things in the world such as
science, technology, sports, arts and culture.
Secondly, by reading we can get a lot of news and knowledge about something happening in
any part of the world which we can see directly.
Thirdly, reading can give us pleasure. When we are tired, we can read books, newspapers or
magazines on the entertainment column such as short stories, comedies or quizzes to make us
relax.
Fourthly, reading can also take us to other parts of the world.
Based on the facts above, it is obvious that everyone needs to read books, newspapers,
magazines or others to get knowledge, news, information and also entertainment. In other
words, we can say reading is truly important in our life.
