Background
In this learning unit, two types of exposition texts will be discussed
each of which has similarities and differences in its text structure.
The first type of exposition text is called analytical exposition
is a type of text that contains the author's detailed thoughts about something
phenomena around him. Meanwhile, hortatory exposition is
a text that aims to influence (persuade) its readers
to do or believe in something by giving supporting reasons. Next, these two texts are types of
argumentative text
and both use simple present tense linguistic patterns. However
However, there are fundamental differences between the two, namely:
Analytical exposition usually ends with a strengthening statement
the author's opinion without any tendency to influence or persuade
readers to do something. Meanwhile, in hortatory exposition
usually ends with a recommendation or invitation from the author to do something
actions or agreeing with one's opinion, usually this type of text can be found
when reading public opinion columns in newspapers or magazines. As for the structure
the text consists of thesis/general statement – arguments - reiteration for
analytical exposition. As well as thesis/general statements – arguments –
recommendation for hortatory exposition.
Analytical Exposition Text
A. Definitccion
Analytical exposition text is a text that contains the author`s
opinion about things that happen around him.Be it an
object,place,or event,without invete the reader to do
something.Analytical exposition text contains thoughts writer
about things that happen around him,whether
objects,events,or places.This text is included in argumentative
text because it shows an opinion(argument) against
something.
2. Arguments
In the next paragraph, you can find the arguments
section. Arguments are opinions to support the main
topic that has been presented previously. Usually in In
analytical exposition there are more than two
arguments. The more arguments there are
displayed, readers will increasingly believe that the
topic being discussed is the right topic
important or requiring attention.
3. Reiteration
After the thesis and argumentation sections are
presented, of course it closes with a conclusion
or repetition. This section is always located at the end of
the text and is the concluding paragraph of the article.
Repetition is a reaffirmation of the author's position and
opinion on the topic
