completed. In the preparation of this paper, we have tried our best, which has taken time and
priceless sacrifices from all parties who helped, which directly became a positive encouragement
for us when facing obstacles to collect source material for this paper.
We also hope that this paper can be useful for all of us who read it.
However, we realize that we made this paper still very far from perfection, both in terms of

BAB I
INTRODUCTION

A. Background
One of the text types introduced in grade XI SMA is analytical exposition text. This
type of text is quite new to some teachers. We are here to make a paper on analytical
exposition text which this assignment is a substitute for our test. Therefore, we make
this paper whose purpose is to complete the assignment given by our teacher, and to
add insight especially for all who read.

After a long search, we finally found an article about how to make an argument
(because the core of this text students are taught to argue). This article was made by
group 2, Class XI.9.

B. Problem Formulation
the problems to be identified in this paper are:

DISCUSSION

A.Definition of Analytical Exposition


Analytical Exposition is a text that exposes a topic by analysing it. The analysis is
done by breaking down the topic into parts, then explaining and commenting on those
parts.
In an exposition analysis, the writer not only explains the topic in general, but also provides
a more in-depth explanation of the parts of the topic. The writer can also give his/her
comments or opinions on the topic.

B.Purpose of Analytical Exposition


The purpose of exposition analysis is to explain, analyse and evaluate a topic or
issue. Expository analyses can be used to:
- Provide information
- Understand a topic or issue
- Determine a position or opinion
Expository analysis can be done using data and facts, logical arguments, and clear and
concise language.

C.Generic Structure Analytical Exposition


1. Thesis
Thesis in part, the author introduces ideas about the topic or subject that will be
discussed. Thesis is always in the first paragraph of Analytical Exposition Text.
2. Argument
In this section the author presents arguments or opinions that support the main idea
of the author, usually in an Analytical Exposition Text there are more than two
arguments. More and more arguments that appear increasingly believe the reader that
the topics covered by the authors is a very important topic or need attention
3. Reiteration
This section is the concluding part of an Analytical Exposition Text is always
located at the end of the paragraph. Reiteration contain the rewriting or redeployment of
the main ideas contained in the first paragraph. Reiteration is also commonly called the
conclusion or conclusions and sometimes advice.

E. Characteristics Analytical Exposition Text Editor

5. Using a casual conjunction.

F. Example
Introduction:
Books have been an integral part of human life for a long time. In this digital era, where
everything is easily accessible through the internet, reading physical books may seem
outdated to some people. However, this article will explain why reading books still holds
invaluable advantages.

Arguments:
First and foremost, reading books can enhance knowledge and broaden horizons. Within
books, there are various topics to be explored, ranging from history, science, literature,
to philosophy. By reading books, individuals can expand their knowledge in various
fields and gain a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Furthermore, reading books can also improve critical thinking skills. Books often present
arguments, analysis, and opinions that need to be critically evaluated. Through reading
books, individuals are taught to consider different perspectives, identify strengths and
weaknesses in arguments, and develop logical and analytical thinking abilities.
Another advantage is that reading books can enhance language skills and communication
abilities. Books offer diverse writing styles and rich language usage. By reading books,
individuals can expand their vocabulary, learn proper grammar, and improve their
writing and speaking skills to become more fluent and effective communicators.

Conclusion:
Reading books continues to offer irreplaceable benefits in this digital age. It enhances
knowledge, critical thinking skills, and language proficiency. Therefore, there is no
reason to neglect the habit of reading books in our daily lives.
