Hi Good Afternoon, everyone.

By way of introduction, I am Puspak Chamariya. I am a lawyer, working extensively with

documentation for project implementation, advisories to players in the renewable energy industry,
dealing with contracts such as EPC contracts and O&M agreements, direct supply agreements etc.
which are all a pre-cursor to the implementation of energy power plants. We have assisted in
drafting and negotiating annual maintenance agreements and contracts for rooftop solar plants, and
also assisted in the dispute resolution of between owners, EPC contractors, and operators.

The legal challenges faced by importers directly sourcing their plant and machinery, is often a matter
of contractual ambiguity, which we aim to mitigate. With increased compliance requirements, the
imposition of safeguard duties, and other practical issues – I have been closely associated with the
solar power sector.

As I see the line-up for this afternoon’s webinar, all typically representing different domains of
technical aspects of a solar power plant – right from manufacturing of equipment, installation and
operations and maintenance etc.

So as your moderator for today, and I shall plead blissful ignorance, and soak in the industrial talk. I
think there is are questions about its cost and quality of the solar panel infrastructure, whether a
Make-in-India model is feasible. The advancement in technology. The life of plant. Accessibility to
remote parts of the country.

Perhaps with Renewable Energy being a legitimately sought after buzz word, and rightly so,
conversations like this, where we have a diverse set of participants from the sector act as a catalyst
for better synery between the industry.

Just as I joined the link for this Webinar, I noticed that it started to rain. And perhaps, I thought,
what better setting than to have a conversation around solar panels and their functionality when the
sun is not totally on our side. The ability to store power, and the configuration to the inverters to be
consumer friendly etc.

So, on that note, let us begin this webinar.

If only there is a screenwriter or producer on this Webinar – I must warn you that a script is here in
the making. I am certain that this conversation now calls for a legitimate remake of the movie
Swades, where a Shah Rukh Khan penetrates the urban and rural India, with the aim to light a bulb
in the climax, this time, not with water, but with solar.

On that note, I will open the house for some questions –

1. SafeGuard Duties
2. Impact on chips – Russia Ukraine War
3. EV charging stations
