needs change
As you know, BrightRock is the first-ever needs-matched life insurance that can change
with you as your needs change. Remember to speak to your financial adviser when
your needs change, so you can use our market-leading features – available on standard
BrightRock policies – to change your policy. These are just some of the features qualifying
clients can use to change their policies:

1. The cover conversion facility – you can use this facility to redirect premiums for cover
you no longer need to other financial needs and insurance events – free of medical
underwriting (to a maximum possible level of R10 million). If you’ve claimed from your
life insurance policy, this could affect what cover you can buy using this facility, but
you can always use death cover premiums to buy more death cover, even if you’ve
claimed;

2. The extra cover buy-up facility – you can buy up to double your cover – free of
medical underwriting – using this facility regularly. If you’ve claimed from your life
insurance policy, this could affect what cover you can buy using this facility;

3. The yearly secured cover facility – with this facility, you have an annual opportunity
to buy cover to the value of the lump-sum amount by which your income protection
cover on death has reduced during the course of that year, with no medical
underwriting.

In addition to the features above, we’ve also made a number of enhancements to our product that will offer you more certainty.
Here are just some of the changes we’ve made to our needs-matched product.
1. Change moment pay-out
We’ve identified two Change Moments – retirement and when
a child reaches financial independence – as moments where
you may need a little extra money to help with any unexpected
expenses. The retirement change moment pay-out gives you
an additional pay-out for 10 years after you reach your selected
retirement age. The childcare change moment pay-out gives you
an additional sum of money when your children reach the age
where you expect them to achieve financial independence. These
pay-outs are only available where you protect your remaining
pay cheques with needs-matched cover for household,
healthcare or childcare needs, because our efficient structure
allows us to deliver significantly more cover to you.
2. Premium guarantees
BrightRock guarantees your premiums for 10 years on all
cover. And for qualifying cover, we guarantee your death cover
premiums for life! This means that on qualifying cover, your
full premium increase on our death cover premiums will be
guaranteed for the full duration of the term, up to whole of life,
thereby offering you unmatched premium certainty.

3. Clinical definitions
Clients have access to the most comprehensive list of temporary
expenses clinical definitions in the market. You can claim for over
300 clinical conditions if you have a one-month waiting period,
or over 400 clinical conditions if you have a seven-day waiting
period on our temporary expenses cover. What’s more, you can
choose to receive your temporary expenses pay-out – for clinical
conditions that have stated pay-out periods – as a lump sum –
this is a market-first!
4. One-month waiting period for all clients
All clients who qualify for temporary expenses cover can now get
a one-month waiting period – this includes clients who would
previously have only qualified for longer waiting periods (such
as three months and six months). This means that these clients
– if they reduce their waiting period – will now have access to
over 300 conditions that they can claim on under our temporary
expenses cover. If you have an existing policy, you may have to
make changes to your cover to take advantage of these features.
