“Plan of research flowchart”
What is It
5
Leedly (1997) defines research as the systematic process of collecting and
analyzing information (data) in order to increase our understanding of the
phenomenon with which we are concerned or interested. It is an activity or process
through which we attempt to systematically and with the support of data, give an
answer to a question, the resolution of a problem or a greater understanding of a
phenomenon.
Rosario, Eden, Eniego and Lundang (2018) defined statistical mini research
as the output of data gathered through questionaire, interview, observation, and
experimentation from an identified set of samples.
6
d. State the hypohtesis. Hypothesis is a proposed explanation or answer to the
problem stated based on the limited data gathered at the beginning of the
research. Make sure that your hyphothesis is a set of sensible and sound
assumptions.
The design is the blueprint of your statistical mini research. It provides the
procedures on how will you go about with your research. The research design
explains the data collection method and the statistical analysis plan in order to come
up with a reliable result and conclusion.
Below are some factors that you can consider when stating the problem of
your research.
a. Choose the subjects included in your sample set. Make sure that your
subjects could well represent the population that you would like to study.
b. Identify the possible variables for your research. A variable is an attribute
that can affect the result of your study. It can be qualitative or quantitative.
A quantitative variable consists of numerical data while qualitative data
refers to categorical responses.
c. Based on the limitations that you have identified earlier, set the control for
your research. This should define the range by which your research would
resolve into.
Data organization
A process organizing collected factual material commonly accepted in the
scientific community as necessary to validate research findings.
“Research data is data that is collected, observed, or created, for purposes of
analysis to produce original research results”(Boston University Libraries, n.d.a).
7
of collection and interpretation, may become meaningless (Boston University
Libraries, n.d.a).
2. The collection of data and its analysis assists researchers with discovering
answers
to their research questions and hypotheses. In some cases, it even predicts future
outcomes (Office of Research Integrity, n.d.a).
Types of chart
a. Bar Chart
b. Pie Chart
c. Line Chart
Data analysis is the heart of your research work. This is where all the data
that you gathered will be transformed into meaningful information. Statistics offer
different techniques to analyze a given data. For example if you would like to
compare one data from another, variance or standard deviation may be helpful and if
you are venturing in descriptive statistics, you may use the measures of central
tendencies. Measures of central tendency are statistical methods used to identify the
center of the distribution of the given set of data. Mean, median, and mode are
commonly used to locate the center of distribution of a given set of data.
8
The last step in formulating mini research wherein you have to organize the
findings of your data to be presented to your target audience. You can use statistical
tables, box plots, and graphs to better summarize and present your conclusion.
Check if your conclusion is similar with the hyphothesis. Generate recommendations
and suggestions for future researchers.
9
made in the presentation and analysis of data
reinforcing for the reader the value and implications of
the work. It should be based on observations and data
already discussed. This section allows you to evaluate
results and reflect on your process. Does the study
require additional research?
VII. Bibliography Is a list of all of the sources you have used (whether
referenced or not) in the process of researching your
work. In general, a bibliography should include: the
authors' names. the titles of the works.
When starting a statistical mini research, ask the following questions to help
you state the problem.
What do you want to know?
Who are the target respondents?
How are the participants selected?
What is the time frame of your research?
Example:
Problem: What is the Impact of Social Media usage to the academic performance
of randomly selected Grade 10 students of Pines City National High School school
year 2020-2021?
Research Design:
10
number of social media accounts
most used social media
hours spent in the most visited social media
purpose of the usage of the accounts
does the usage of social media enhance their learning skills
does it contribute to their academic activities
2. From the school records, find the average of the respondents involved in
the study. Correlate it with the hours they spend in their most visited social
media per week.
3. Plot your results in a line graph. Identify whether or not there is a positive or
negative correlation between the usage of social media and their average.

V. Evaluation
Based on the result, it was affirmed that Grade 11 ABM class performance in
Statistics and Probability got a higher percent of mastery level during the third
quarter, because there are only small percent of the students who got failing grades
and most of the students got a passing grade.
The teacher will conduct intervention with the 14% of the students who failed
the Statisctics and Probability subject for the third quarter.
According to rhetoric scholars Harison and Keene, making a good title for a
paper involves ensuring that the title of the research accomplishes four goals.
13
4. It should contain important keywords that will make it easier to be located
during a keyword search.
Keywords are important words and concepts that are frequently
used in your research paper. Using them in the title will let you
introduce the topic, problem, or solution right away.
As you craft a title for your mini research paper, the following steps will help you
understand how you can go about writing a good title for your statistical mini
research.
1. Ask yourself these questions and take note of the answers. What does your
paper seek to answer and what does it accomplish. Try to answer these
questions as briefly as possible, with one or two sentences each.
a. What is my paper about?
b. What techniques/designs were used?
c. Who/what is studied
d. What were the results?
2. Identify and list keywords and phrases.
3. Create a sentence that includes the key words you listed.
4. Create a working title. To create a working title, remove elements that make it
a complete “sentence” but keep everything that is most important to what the
study is about.Delete all unnecessary/ repetitive words and link the remaining.
5. Eliminate all extra words or phrases to meet a suitable word count of at least
not more than 15 words ; place keywords at the beginning and end of your
title
Following the steps outlined above will help you arrive at a perfect title for your
research paper.
