Rationale and Event Briefer

On September 23rd Ferdinand Marcos Sr. signed the formal declaration of Martial
Law. This put the Philippines under a dictatorial rule that lasted 14 years until he has
been ousted by the Filipino people. Despite the heavy atrocities, continuous
endeavors in historical revisionism persist.

It is important for us to commemorate the day for those who have fallen under his
rule and for those who carry on the weight of what they survived. Likewise, it is
important for us to hear firsthand the stories of the people who have survived the
iron rule of the Marcos dictatorship. This allows us to gain a deeper understanding of
the implications and impact of history on our society. This is why an event like ARAL
MULA SA PAG-ALALA NG DIKTATURA: The Truth in the Eyes of the Living Survivors
will be held.

Knowledge Channel Foundation Incorporated aims to continually be at the forefront

of responsible learning in the service of Filipino children. Given the rising threat of
historical revisionism and misinformation, it is vital that KCFI remembers the time of
Martial Law; to give an avenue to survivors to speak their truth, and spark
transformative change within the foundation, with the intention to expand this
change.

Every Filipino child can be a vessel for the welfare of the people, but only if the truth
has been passed down to them. KCFI will continue resisting the efforts to erase the
truth from history and will continue to flourish the ideas of students for the progress
and welfare of our nation.
